I play bass in a rock band, 1000 Miles From Home. Click the link to check out our songs on our myspace page. We released debut EP in March 2007 and we're working on a new EP this year. Sometimes I blather on about our latest news up there in my blog when I get a chance. I also play in a backing band for acoustic artist Hunter James which lets me exercise a little different part of my musical brain.
I play defender and midfield in an indoor soccer league, play in a recreational ultimate frisbee league (read: dorks with free time and a lot of alcohol), a co-ed softball team through work (more dorks with free time and alcohol), play WoW (dorks on computers), and guitar hero/rock band. I also try and go out a few times a week and catch all the awesome live music Dallas has to offer.
My main bass is an Ernie Ball Music Man Sting Ray 5. My backup is a an American Fender Jazz V with Bartolini pickups. I play through Ampeg SVT-VR head with Avatar Cabs. For effects I have a Aphex Optical Compressor, Aphex Bass Xciter, Boss Bass Chorus, and Sansamp BDDI run through a wireless setup. I've got my eye on a new 6x10 cab from Bergantino which I'll probably pick up next time I'm in Austin. Oh, and I've just picked up a new Markbass Little Mark II amp that weights like 6 pounds and totally rocks and a GK1001RB.
I sort of run my own record label and released the record for 1000 Miles From Home to iTunes and all the digital download sites and manage all of their merchandise and physical CD sales. I may add another artist or two to the label someday.
