Carl Blades and his guitar create easy listening/indie music with either meaning or randomness, however the best thing about his music is that, as many listeners have mentioned, there is something for everyone. He experiments with different styles and sounds so that listeners will find something new in every song to enjoy.
Carl Blades (20) began playing music at fifteen, so asked his father (who was a musician himself) to teach him a few chords. From there he has taught himself how to play by learning his favourite tunes and has been writing his own music for three years.
Now he and his guitar play the music scene in the city of Lincoln and has been doing so for a year, meeting fellow musicians and getting a fan base by going to open mic nights, gigs and concerts, and even the occasional talent show.
On Friday 12th of September a band dropped out of playing on BBC Radio Lincolnshire's 'The Mix: Introducing' and they desperately needed another act. Luckily they had already heard Carl Blades play as he had sent in an EP for them to listen to, so after calling him only ten minutes before the show was to start, he was there within the hour to play four of his own tracks for them live on air. The crew were so impressed by Carl's music that they were silenced and made very flattering comments about his most recent track 'Ever Changing World':
"It's not often that 'the mix' team are reduced to silence and tears.." James Wickham, BBC Radio Lincolnshire Presenter
Carl Blades will be around the Lincoln scene for a while so if you want to hear his music for yourself, or you find him sexy and want his number and you're a very attractive young woman, then keep your eyes and ears open for one of his gigs.
Thank you for your comments! I don't mind the James Taylor comment because I have been a Taylor fan since he began. I met & spoke with him in 86' in New Orleans. I also am a fan of Livingston Taylor.
That's really very good to hear! I'm still waiting for the day your name and picture is up there with the likes of Anthony Hopkins. I know you're going to be a star, you've certainly got the talent...oh and the looks! Lovely hearing from you! x
We're all doing fine in our respective courses/jobs thanks! I'm attending Leicester uni, in the final part of the 2nd year at the moment. Wow...that's very impressive. Are you still planning on becoming an actor, or is music your current goal?
Very true, I'm not really into the whole social networking thing, I'd much rather talk face to face, but when that's not possible Myspace helps. I'm good thank you, currently pursuing a science degree. Good to see you're doing well (as always) at Lincoln uni. Never knew you could act AND sing! Patrick Ellwood remembers you as well, and is green with envy :D
Just thought I'd drop by and say hi, as we're not gonna be rocking out together tonight after all :-(
By the way the EP is available from NEXT WEEK! Leave a comment in my most recent blog if you want to preorder one :-) If you need some persuading then you can hear two of the tracks set to be on it in my Myspace player now! :-)
Thanks again for all the support! See you soon man!
