At Central Texas College, we identify and serve our unique, global community needs and provide quality teaching through an accessible learning environment.
Central Texas College is a two-year, open admission institution which provides educational opportunities to students locally, nationally and internationally. The purpose of CTC, as set forth in Section 130 of the Texas education Code, is to provide:
technical programs up to two years in length leading to associate degrees and/or certificates.
vocational programs leading directly to employment in semi-skilled and skilled operations.
freshman and sophomore level courses in arts and sciences.
continuing adult education programs for occupational or cultural upgrading.
compensatory education programs designed to fulfill the commitment of an admissions policy allowing the enrollment of disadvantaged students.
a continuing program of counseling and guidance designed to assist students in achieving their individual educational goals.
workforce development programs designed to meet civilian and military community needs.
adult literacy and other basic skills programs for adults.
Central Texas College was ranked third among the top 50 most popular colleges chosen by active-duty service members in a recent poll by the Military Times “EDGE” publication. The poll was based on the numbers of course enrollments. CTC finished third behind the University System of Maryland and the American Public University System based in Charles Town, West Virginia.
To create the list, Military Times requested data for course enrollments by school from Army, Navy, Air Force (including active-duty Air National Guard), the Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Army National Guard. By combining the lists and grouping schools in named college systems together, Military Times were able to determine which schools served tuition assistance users the most during the 2008 fiscal year.
Among the individual military branches, CTC ranked first with the Army (53,242 courses), fourth with the Marine Corps (6,031 courses); seventh with the Navy (5,675 courses); and ninth with the Air Force (5,701 courses).
