Brainstorm a.k.a Vivek Malhotra was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA; it’s no surprise rap and the love for hip-hop have influenced this focused and greatly determined 26 year old artist. At the age of 13 he lost his father to an unfortunate illness. Through the years he managed to overcome this tragedy, continued his education, and completed his undergrad, acquiring a degree in Engineering. In high school Brain would write alot of poetry, as a way to express his inner thoughts and feelings. He wrote his first 'flow' at the age of 15 and continued writing poetry or as Brain now refers to it as rap ‘flowetry’. This is when he began to form character and gain experience as a songwriter, musician, and engineer. Brain has performed at over 1000 events, cultural shows, club venues, and charity platforms. Never shy of the camera and always ready to perform. His debut release, LA PlayaZ album dropped Sept. 2005, where Brain self sold in a matter of 3 months over 1200 albums, acquiring knowledge of street sales & marketing. In June of 2006 Brain met a talented Punjabi singer, Musafir Ludhianvi. Since then they have created original fusion tracks of hip-hop and Punjabi music. Brainstorm believes he finally has found the right key and niche because of the similar background and culture both Musafir and him share.
He is confident to make his mark in the international music industry. Together – Brainstorm and Musafir create the group – Sur Taal.
"Sahir Ludhianvi", you may remember him form the "Kabhi Kabhi Mere Dil Mein Khayal Aata Hai", lyrics were written by him. Sahir, just like Musafir and Brain, was a rebel through out life. Leaving a great mark in "Shayari" (Indian Poetry/Spoken Word) was "Shiv Kumar Btalvi", whos best friend was death itself. His passion for Life's end was enormous. Along with the greats of the old age: Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Da, Jagjit Singh, Pankaj Udhas, Atif Aslam, Kumal Gunjanwala, Himesh, and all Other's that have made a mark. Obviously no one can talk out the influence of Gazals and Shayari without talking about the GREATEST Shayar of all times "Mirza Ghalib". He created a revolution with his Gazals and Nazams. He set a code for many to live by. Ghalib changed the world through the ink of his pen.
