Biography
JuanCarlos Jimenez Borges was born in Havana, Cuba.
In 1983 he graduated at the Cuban University of Music in Havana and holds a Diploma of music and composition.
In 1986 he completed the jazz composition and arrangement course of "Berklee school of jazz of New York".
Since 1983, along with studying at the University, he has played French horn with the Simphonic Orchestra of Villa Clara and also working at the local school of music as armony, piano and french horn teacher.
In the mean time he created a latin jazz group named "Incognita"and was also playing with a group named "Panorama" playing contemporay music.
In 1994 he went to Sweden to record some music and there he continued his career of gifted musician and composer.
JuanCarlos has played at several Jazz Festival all over Europe and also in Cuba along with other musicians such as Ulf Adoker, Ulf Andersson, Calixto Oviedo and others.
He has arranged, composed and recorded a few cds both classic music and latin jazz.
In 1997 he has created a group in Stockholm named "Cuba ritmo jazz"/CubajazzJuanquy playing a blend of jazz, cuban-latin rythms, contemporary music and traditional cuban music, in which we can admire the brilliant and spontaneous improvisation.
"CubaJazzJuanquy" have played on the Swedish National tv channel, composed music for a Swedish Radio Tv advertisement, Radio Sörmlands and have played in many jazz clubs in Stockholm such as Klubben Village, Fasching, Stampen, Nalen, Mosebacken, Glenn Miller Bildösound and many others all over Scandinavia.
