OUR NEW DISCO which we do with a BMX posse. It is not really what a lot of people expect. We play generally exciting dance and hip hop and some indie, lots of feministic rappers and faux-chauvinistic booty tracks but anyway just open your mind and eat the cake.

Really?! You mean somebody you know knows us? Oh no, that sounds ominous - a bit like when Alan Partirdge goes "I dont want to be infamous, I want to be fumus... I want to be famous". Who is it? Or is it somebody who has seen us play?

I would love to see the fanzine! I always love your flyers even, they all look amazing. I would prefer to have a paper copy - but it sounds like they were a labour of love to do, so maybe you should save them for other more deserving people and I'll see the pdf. Its no problem!

Its weird, this fanzine guy I've known since I was 17 has started putting his fanzine on the web too very recently. Its weird cos for the last 10 years he's been saying how luddite he is and he would photocopy whole novels sometimes - no really - whole novels of his writing. Anyway, if you can stand looking at it on a screen its here:

http://ddddfanzine. wikispaces. com/

He's a 50 year old (?) man who wears leg-ins and jumpers and is a semi-pro alcoholic who loves charity shops, but was banned from working in his local one because of the Labour party? Oh, I dont remember now...

Sometimes I wish you could swap and be the Cuckoos Nest band for one day, that way I would at least get a reply from them. I was in a tesco and their song came on at the very moment I was at the till and realized I had lost all my vouchers. Then in a mood I stormed out the shop, only to be almost hit by a car. All this to the same song!

They have a gig soon. But I'm dead scraed to go. She's going to think I'm a stalker or a freak. Perhaps its something to do with me acting like a freaky stalker. I suck.

Did you see Melt Banana play on tour? I saw them twice and moshed in my gold and balck pointy shoes. I have bruises all over my arms becasue I'm dead puny. I rule.

Babysue

My first encounter with Moira Stewart, for their debut album, is a straight shot of joy. This has put one big smile on my face.

Vital Weekly

.

Incurably cute and frisky, once the lids lifted off 'Sweetness, Yes!' its like a summer holiday schools out parade. Bonkers but superb with it.

Losing Today

Here’s an album to put a smile on your face. Sweetness, Yes! is a joyful mix of 80’s synths, indie guitars and quirky sampling.

Album of the week (13th March 2008)

A joyous carousel of fun and glad tidings.
Skipping around the electro/pop minefield with giddy abandon

This hugely impressive debut could teach Hot Chip a lesson in the art of concise, punchy songwriting .

GET INVOLVED®

Jun 16 2008 4:53 AM

Wednesday 18th June at THE END (nr Digital)...

GET INVOLVED Present....

AWESOME COLOR

Awesome Color is a power trio updated for the 2060's, noise provocateurs and impressionists, ace players with punk rock flair, inspired citizens of a small modernist nation of musical, visual, and literary outrage on the outskirts of Brooklyn, or a rainbow amalgam of all of the above at once.

Having recently played gigs supporting IGGY AND THE STOOGES, an upcoming tour with DINOSAUR JR. and plans for a second album on ECSATIC PEACE imminent (the label owned and run by SONIC YOUTH's Thurston Moore), 2008 promises to be a banner year for New York City's mightiest and most inspired rock band.

FIL096: ELKS @ NEWCASTLE ARTS CENTRE - MONDAY 16 JUNE

Described by Hydragenic as 'a subtle, widescreen sountrack for the bitter break-up of a relationship', London's Elks are unclassifiable in their unconventional brilliance, a band always evolving, taking chances and refusing to sit still. Following a successful string of European shows, the band are coming to Newcastle tonight, Monday 16 June. Also on the bill are Spraydog, Italy's Three In One Gentlemans Suit, and The Black Static of Summer. This one is at the Newcastle Arts Centre, entry is £4 and doors are at 8pm.

------------------------------------

FIL097: THESE UNITED STATES @ HEAD OF STEAM - SUNDAY 22 JUNE

These United States/Vandaveer was one of our favourite shows of the year in 2007, so we're super happy to announce that they're both making a return to The Head of Steam, Newcastle on Sunday 22 June. This Washington DC outfit serve up country-tinged folk sautéed in electronic seasoning; along with artier neighbours Le Loup and Exit Clov, These United States offer melodic and amusing ideas to the post-Fugazi landscape, but they're still tied to thoughtful ones-in this case, mostly protesting heartless romantic antics - Village Voice. A co-promotion with our friends Ex-Libris Records, the bill also features John Egdell and Aaron McMullan. Doors are 8pm and entry is £4.
