  • Bio

Having spent several years carving their teeth on the road with the likes of The Sadies, Sloan, Hayden, The Weakerthans, Calexico and Nick Cave, Toronto's Cuff the Duke are poised to make the jump from indie-scene-darlings to bona-fide Canadian music icons. Their new album, Way Down Here was co-produced by Cuff and Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor at his beautiful barn studio in rural Ontario and features the band's most mature, captivating and impressive collection of songs to date. Cuff the Duke started out in Oshawa before making the move to Toronto in 2002. Their debut album, Life Stories for Minimum Wage was released on Three Gut Records, at the time one of the most exciting indie-labels in Canada. Their second and third albums, Cuff the Duke and Sidelines and the City respectively, were both released on Hardwood Records alongside label mates Basia Bulat and Hayden. Last year the band won accolades backing Hayden on his Canadian and North American tours. Starting Jan. 6th of 2010, they've guested on 20 different concerts across Canada with Blue Rodeo. Wayne Petti from the band sings on 9 cuts on their new album and performs live with them whenever he's available. Way Down Here was released in the USA April 20th 2010 via The Ernest Jenning Record Co. out of Brooklyn. On June 12th they began touring the US in San Diego as guests of Serena Ryder ending up in Milwaukee May 10th. On June 3rd, they began a tour with Blue Rodeo in Philadelphia. Throughout the summer they played various North American festivals followed by a successful coast-to-coast Canadian tour. Cuff the Duke continue to earn their road stripes, finding themselves more and more in the hearts of music lovers everywhere. February 2011 will find Cuff the Duke back in the studio, once again with Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor co-producing, their fifth studio album. Look for a summer release via Noble Recording Co./Universal Records. ..

Bio:

All Toronto and area fans: Cuff The Duke have been asked to guest with Blue Rodeo on their 3rd night of 3 at Massey Hall: February 4th. Tickets are still available, but they most likely won't be for long. The bands have been playing together in Western Canada since the tour began in Calgary January 5th, and the shows have been a huge success!

But the best surprise bonus of the evening was the opening act, Cuff the Duke and their obvious camaraderie and influence from hanging out with the Blue Rodeo while on the road. Their brilliant fresh style was truly their own. Joining Blue Rodeo on stage for the majority of their set was Cuff the Duke’s frontman Wayne Petti who offered powerful vocals alongside Cuddy’s and had guitar skills to match.

The encore was the ultimate ending as both bands combined to deliver an unforgettable close to an audience who was on their feet and left feeling very happily ‘Lost Together’ with Blue Rodeo and Cuff the Duke.
