I am Danl, composer, guitarist, bassist, percussionist, keyboardist, programmer, producer, and artist..

Matt Hunter, seriously slick pianist, with a knack for playing "outside" the song.

Our most recent addition, Aaron Woolston on Bass.

And finally, Kane Allan, an accomplished visuals-artist and media artist from Adelaide, altogether scary with his level of prowess on a kaos pad. Kane also produces the visuals to our live show.

Currently there are two CD's going around, both available for FREE!! just click to download..

The Metechanist - 2008

Collidescope Soul Machine - 2009

And don't forget our first stuido album as a band is out in 2010,

About Cult Of The Hidden Nerve
I am Danl, a progressive composer, an analytical electronical rythm pusher, and I am so insanely lost in what I do. Luckily I love every minute of it. My band and I developed a live show, riddled with musical rubiks cube, and well garnished in technicolour.

We are The Cult Of The Hidden Nerve.

On the whole It gets very surreal, which is what I want because the best way to escape the reality you are in is to make your own. Normally this is considered taboo and a product of an unhealthy mind or life (and this is true in the initilisation of my music) but because we use music to describe and construct a new world, it is manifested in a format we can share with everyone.. which makes it reality not fantasy, and removes the destructive aspect of this escapism

Yep.. Surreal music.. why isnt it a musical genre? Its taken me ages to come up with a word that can really describe what we're doing here but I think 'Surreal' is perfect.

Now lets get a few basic concepts sorted here.. first, surreal art doesnt mean VAGUE or chaotic or abstract (in technique). Its generally quite rendered and structured. Its the CONCEPT that counts. The subtle feeling of space, the creepyness, the isolated vibrance, the CONTENT...

I think in musical terms, it suggests that our music has form, and rythm, and alot of 'real music', but has content with an air of trippyness and imagery that makes the mind create a new space. Many musicians have done this before. Im giving it a name. Surreal music..

Ever heard Planet Caravan by Black Sabboth? Thats what I'd call surreal music. Some of that Kid A album by Radiohead, or some flaming lips. The white rabbit.. uh.. I dunno.. Enya?

Its not the sound, but the affect on the listener. It picks up on a spark on your mind and sends a shiver down your back coupled with a nice endorphin rush sometimes (drug users will probably like this). Describe the infinte and confer the sublime. Tickle that hidden little nerve tha music so often does. Thats how we got the name. We are in search for the hidden nerve which creates that spaced trippy kind of feeling that you get when you look at a Dali painting.. and music is almost a slightly obsessive spritual or religious kind of thing for me, so I used the word CULT.

Sweet.. Cult of the Hidden Nerve.. thats us..

We toured with some bands from the M-Squared Label, up the Sydney way. And it was pretty darn fun. At this time we have myself working laptops, virtual things, random noise, and the odd vocal, Matt Hunter working keyboards, Tom on guitar, and Kane, accomplished visuals artist, accompanying us around the joint (VJ)

An album I wrote AGES ago, THE METECHANIST was kindly released to the public by Webbed Hand Records. www.webbehandrecords.com and is right there, right now.. FREE!! Yes!, go check it out! and to be honest it was from right back where I started when I began this strange electronic music inducing reclusivness, so dont expect quite the same standards that we somehow manage to work at these days... Here you can find the tracks and art to the second album, Collidescope Soul Machine, AND you can find news on our new project, the studio album..

dan dan dan dan dan...hey...heydan!!! sorry...um...its like 8am & i've not slept, i've been working for at least the last 72hrs more or less on this rave...set up...live lights show...logistix of security guards/doorstaff/barstaff/unwanted cops/unwanted bikies VERY wanted firetwirlers...glowstick stand....it was full on for 2 ppl man. and we had from 2;30am to 4am to pack up the same pa+lights that had taken us 12hrs+ to set up!!! we did it tho..all while a pack of druncken fuckwits were mouthing off at us. yay. but did the whole night sober, 1/2 a doobie, 2 cans of beam (they had no jacks), and no synthetics, i'm well & truely through with that shit. and alcohol, unless its a few warm whiskeys @ home or something, alcohol can fuck off. but i just remebered there was actually a point to me writing and here it is! u at all involved in the reconnect festival? coz i think you'd want to be, i dunno how open it is genre wise & the lineups full this yr but theres 50+ locals playing and alot of them are bedroom producers. ahhhh the penny drop moment ;P but yes, psychedelic lovefest...bush cinema...workshops...alcohol free...3days...camping....groovy.
stay well & be happy! -Tom

lol its 432hz....not 423hz....:P A=432Hz is also C=512Hz (third fret up on A string of guitar) or lower C is (I think) C=216Hz (check schillerinstitute.org)

hope to hear from you soon, it would be good to keep the 432hz debate separate from our musical collaborative discussions as i think the debate has the potential to get heated or cause division..

anyway re:potential gig

I am talking to a guy i went to school with who is rather genius with computers & he is thinking about writing a program for me which would respond to music much the same way 'whitecap' & 'gforce' visualizers do. He may well end up part of the live crew on the night of the gig if it were to happen...

Hope you are well & life is inspiring,
