Band MembersPete Hackett................ various electric and acoustic guitars, bass, percussion, theremin, lap steel, mandolin, dictaphones, radio's, scanner, stylophone's, speak and spells and a computer running all sorts of wierd and wonderful electronic toys. You may hear snippets of voices in the music, taken from dictaphones, scanners, short wave, the outside world, electronic voice phenomena, etc.... please do not be afraid! I mean no harm!
InfluencesI love bad t.v., watching sci fi and war films, reading, painting miniatures for cash, but most of all...... I love all manner of mad music, such as....E.L.O, Japan, The Eels, The Dukes of Stratosphear, Deep Purple, Air, O.M.D, Nick Drake, John Foxx, Bonzo dog doo dah band, Smith and Burchill, Yazoo, Goldfrapp,Duran Duran, Pink Floyd, Beck, X.T.C, Massive Attack, Scanner, new order, The Streets, Ladytron, Bedswerver, Flaming lips, Tim Pennifold, Enio Morricone,The Dead Tree band, Human League,Kraftwerk, Sisters of Mercy, Yes, Busload of Faith, Jeff Lynne, Indigo girls, Black sabbath, Large Blue Horses, Isaac Hayes,Donovan, Stuart Curtis r.i.p, Genesis, Cat Stevens, 10 cc, Steely Dan, Mostly autumn, Scissor Sisters, Mike Oldfield, Richard Smiths trash can, Half Man Half Biscuit, Joy Division, Radiohead, Focus, Jellyfish, Motorhead, The Mike Curb Congregation, Kate Bush, Hawkwind, The Polyphonic Spree, Jean Michel Jarre, Marillion, Catch 22, 70s Funk & Blaxploitation music all the way down to drum and bass. i like to think that somewhere along the line most off these influences rear their ugly heads but not particulary in any recognisable form! I am sometimes influenced by what i hear around me. ie the natural sound of the world and his wife, and have been known to samples elevators and car boot sales! If you see that strange man in the post office with a dictaphone, pity him.
Sounds LikeA bit like a car crash involving members of - E.L.O, Genesis, Human League, Kraftwerk, Motorhead and Yes. With John Shaft and Starsky and Hutch being the first on the scene, with Beck and Air driving the ambulances!

   About cult of wedge
This is the online site for THE CULT OF WEDGE. After too many years of messing about in bands, i discovered the delights of the drum machine and sampler. I launched myself wildly at an unsuspecting computer to concoct what soon became the first ever CULT OF WEDGE tunes. After being bought up on a diet of rock from the 70s and electronic music from the 80s , i wondered if i could incorporate some of these elements with modern dance and funk type music. My tunes may not sound like Rush to a banging house beat, or a drum and bass genesis, they may not even sound like music to some, but for what its worth, i like em. Hope you do too.......
