    Carl's Interests
General

I like to create art and music.

When I make music, i like to do both electronica with my computer and live music with a guitar or percussion.

In my day gig, which I love, I empower musicians with technology.

I'm very excited about martial arts and have recently started studying Kickboxing and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu. I also enjoy yoga, kayaking, cycling, camping, hiking, meditation, reading, and intellectual discussion

I love to dance.

MusicMy Music is a contribution on this compilation

I like all forms of music as long as it is played with soul and conviction.

I actually just got a Zune, and have been going crazy with its all you can eat access to music, so it's hard to answer this.

Here are a few of my current favorites: Glen Hansard, Angelique Kidjo, Carmen Rizzo, Telefon Tel Aviv, Sharkey & C-Rayz Walz are Monster Maker, Saul Williams/Trent Reznor - The Inevitible Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust, Radiohead - In Rainbows, What It Is!, Soundtrack to the Fountain, Federico Aubele, Gaudi/Nusrat Fateh Ali Kahn, Ceu, Mark Ronson, Meshuggah, Imogen Heap, Beck, Michael Franti, and my own music.

Movies

Movies that I recently have enjoyed: Once, Stranger Than Fiction, The Fountain, Pan's Labyrinth, Annie Hall, I know I'm Not Alone, Red, No Maps for These Territories, Network, Howl's Moving Castle, American History X, Frida, Good Night and Good Luck, Thank You for Smoking, Angels in America, I Heart Huckabees, MindWalk

Anything by Charlie Kaufman: Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Eternal Sunshine...

Anything by Hayao Miyazaki

The Matrix Trillogy & V for Vendetta

Almost Anything by the Coen Brothers: The Big Lebowski, Hudsucker Proxy, O Brother Where Art Thou, Barton Fink...

One Giant Leap; Koyaanisqatsi

For international selections I dig Kurosawa, Felini, and Ingmar Bergman

Television

"If television is not allowed to do investigation as well as entertainment, then television will distract, delude and entertain, insulating us from the realities of the world we live in."

--Edward R. Murrow

Television rots your brain, try Integral Naked instead. When I do watch TV, it's usually on DVD after the fact. My favorite series are Lost, 24, Heroes, Deadly Arts, and Six Feet Under. I'm also a fan of Extreme Makeovers Home Edition. It makes me feel good to see people helping people.
Books

My favorite authors in no particluar order are: Ayn Rand, Robert Pirsig, Douglas Hoffstader, Hermann Hesse, Viktor Frankl, Umberto Eco, Ken Wilber, David Foster Wallace, Shakespeare, I also enjoy reading philosophic and spiritual works.

Currently reading: Renzo & Royler Gracie Brazillian Jiu Jitsu - Theory & Technique, and Sogyal Rinpoche The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying

Just read: Thomas P. M. Barnett Blueprint for Action: A Future Worth Creating. Charles Stross Accelerando & Mark Danielewski House of Leaves both of which are two of the most amazing works of fiction that I've ever encountered, Daniel Yergen The Prize, Ken Wilber Integral Spirituality, Saul Williams The Dead Emcee Scrolls, Ken Wilber Grace & Grit Suzuki Roshi's Zen Mind, Beginners Mind, and Paul Coehlo The Alchemist
