About me: “GAME OVER” for Cup & Saucer Café
Current mood: melancholy
Category: Life
We regret to announce that Cup & Saucer Café is CLOSED after three and a half years in business. ALL SCHEDULED SHOWS ARE CANCELLED. Call 513-544-7017 for information on buying the business. It was a good run for a mom & pop business, longer than many expected, especially considering that Marcy had a stroke just one month after we started. We had a lot of nice employees, customers, and entertainers but there were too many factors working against us. Maybe we’ll write a book about it when things calm down, but basically we had too many expenses, not enough income, and way too much stress. Health problems are the primary cause of failure of small business, and we had to bail out before it killed one or both of us. So everybody take care while we do the same. Some day we’ll get back to making Marcy Burgers, presenting great performers and taking photos of them. In the meantime keep in touch. We’d love for you to share your memories of Cup & Saucer and we’d also love to hear about your progress, especially if you got your start on our stage. Please leave comments on our page so everyone can share.
Love,
Barry & Marcy

Barry Fey, Denver's king of rock 'n' roll, will be sharing his vast knowledge of the key rock era — including the Summer of Love in 1967 — to neophytes enrolled at the University of Colorado Denver.
The elective class, which will be called the Real History of Rock 'n' Roll, runs from Feb. 22 to spring break in March. The curriculum will cover popular music from 1965 through 1975.
"I love talking to people," the would-be professor said. "I love to hear my own voice. I hope they enjoy it as much as I do."
Fey, who started music-promotion/booking company Feyline Inc. in 1967, is legendary for bringing such first-time acts to Colorado as Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and the Who.
He retired and folded his company in 1997 but was lured out of retirement in 2001 to head the House of Blues in Denver. That gig lasted three years, after which he took up consulting.
"I'm going to be a doctor," Fey said of his latest venture. "I'm not going to transplant things to these people. I'm going to try and do an implant — a memory implant. I'm going to tell them the things they never knew. I hope they come out with an appreciation for what the real music is like — not what they're told today."
Fey, who can be somewhat reclusive, said that at the least he'll be getting out of the house two days a week.
"I'm going to wear a doctor's coat to class, I think," he said. "I got the best of it, baby."
With an assembly that includes members of Ministry (Warner Bros.) and Thrill Kill Kult (Rykodisc), it's obvious project .44 has a firm grasp on the aggro/industrial/tek metal scene...
