Meaning: a reverberatory furnace for smelting ore and / or a dome-like structure usually for bells in architecture --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CUPOLA brings together Sarah Matthews, Doug Eunson and Oli Matthews as a three-piece band, playing English and European dance music, and singing English songs in three-part harmony. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Melodeons, fiddles, viola, soprano saxophone, vocals, clarinet and hurdy-gurdy combine effortlessly with sublime harmonies. The choice of material is inspired by tradition and contemporary works alike, with the emphasis on great melodies and intricate arrangements. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The concert trio have finished their first album to be released on the cothrecords label. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now working with the completely lovely Lucy Ward from Derby as a new collaboration of vocals plus instrumental - watch this space for gigs and exciting new material later this year and next...... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DANCECUPOLA .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. Also performing as a groovy barn dance band for all festival ceilidhs and late night extras – DanceCupola has the Cupola Trio at its core, plus Ian Wilson (Peeping Tom), and bass player Andy Cooper (Off The Tracks Festivals and Prego). Developing dance tune sets from the best of traditional material, the band also enjoy a lot of composition within the project too. Ready for festivals 2010 onwards. -

Doug Eunson and Sarah Matthews have been working together for some time as a duo, in the Derbyshire quartet 'Cross o'th Hands', and in other line-ups such as the Ram Company. We had the pleasure of hearing Oli Matthews play at the 2008 "Big Sing" at Marehay, and we knew the mix of sounds and textures would work!! The Cupola Trio was born and we've been working hard on new material since January 2009! Thanks for the friend request. All well with KOMPOSIT although hard to juggle the admin etc with the festivals here and abroad. Currently trying to sort dates with composers and chosen musicians which, as you can imagine, is a nightmare. Love Jo x
