  • Bio

" For ye who pass here. A precarious path. The choracle traverses a darkening glass. Breaching lilly pads. Awakening a warning: I cloak this jem like a ghost ship in the mist. Know this is our haunt, not yours. Turn on your heels and row back to shore. Revealing unsettling feelings drip from the cealing. If you stay our hex will sting"... Curse in the Woods is no ordinary band. It is a music project incorporating artistic disciplines, both traditional and contemporary. Story-telling, performance and visual art are set to an original score resulting in a piece more closely resembling theater. Each member of Curse in the Woods contributes to its unique sound from a broad spectrum of musical backgrounds, identifying various influences such as the eerie melodies of Bartok and Shostakovich, the crude textures of Delta blues, saloon, rag and honky tonk, and the lilting oral tradition of Celtic folk. With the intimacy of a chamber orchestra, Curse in the Woods supports a stage presence founded on a blend of theatrics from the slapstick and pantomime of Charlie Chaplin to the detailing and body language of Japanese Knoh opera and Hindie musicals. Curse in the Woods transports its audience to a realm dark, superstitious and entirely amusing. Appealing to young and old alike, Curse in the Woods casts a spell over the crowd, drawing it to return to quench the thirst for true entertainment.
