The Cutaway Crossing story:.. Inspired by the music! Cutaway Crossing.. is five Midwestern guys who all share an incredible passion for living life, creating, and playing great music. Their motivation is singular and simple - passion! .."If you don't have passion - you've got nothing! If you're not passionate about what you're doing, just stop doing it!" CUTAWAY: The name "Cutaway Crossing".. represents the origins and the essence of the band. All of their tunes are developed on acoustic guitars - the majority being cutaways. "Nothing can quite match the vibe and the vulnerability of three acoustic guitars working it out with the rhythm section...that's when the real magic happens!" Also, playing together is the band's reason for "cutting away" from what they normally do, day in, and day out. CROSSING: Cutaway Crossing's.. music is a "crossing" of a number of influences, genres, textures, and years of very different experiences crossing back and forth across the US. There ya have it. CUTAWAY CROSSING! Their Sound: The band has consistently been compared to Whiskeytown. A blend The Old 97s, Tom Petty, The Steve Miller Band & The Eagles Cutaway Crossing's.. debut album "This Exit" was released in the Fall of 2008 and features 11 original up-tempo, acoustic-driven tracks from the band. Nine of the eleven tunes were written by Bendle. The other two (Knock Me Down & Luckenbach Today) were written by Bendle's former Atomic Wood band mate and Dallas resident, Adam K. Zoellner. The guys from Cutaway Crossing are having a ball right now gigging, promoting their new CD and sharing their own version of acoustic-driven, Alt-County / Americana / Red-Dirt music! "Come on by and check us out!" WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT THE BAND "WOW! If you're a fan of Alt-Country, Cutaway Crossing is a no brainer! You're gonna love these guys!" "If you're taking a road trip, this CD is an absolute MUST!" "The simple test is: 1) can I sit and listen to the CD from start to finish, 2) when I finish, are the songs stuck in my head and 3) do I start humming or singing the songs and want to listen to the CD again – right away. The results for the debut release by CC are: yes, yes and yes. GREAT JOB!" "The lyrics and music are catchy and addictive. In fact, I felt like I lost control of my leg at one point because it was bouncing to the beat without me realizing it! " Review by Pete Dulin - Present Magazine - Nov. 2008.. Present Magazine "Cutaway Crossing has crafted music that a lot of people in the Midwest ought to identify with easily. Don’t take this wrong. The music doesn’t pander to anyone. It’s American music. Whether it’s the country flare, the rock-n-roll punch, or the “just folks” friendliness, Cutaway Crossing is the kind of music that would feel at home just about anywhere." - Pete Dulin If you can read Dutch, check out what our friends from Rootstime have to say in their November 2008 CD Reviews! Rootstime Belgium.. Review by Stevo - Leicester Bangs - UK - February 2009 Leicester Bangs - UK. For a debut album it’s very assured. There are lots of extremely familiar Americana sounds and influences, including Whiskeytown and The Old 97's, but they’ve certainly got their own distinctive sound.....Definitely worth a spin and probably a purchase.. Cutaway Crossing is.... Brad "Woody" Bendle - formerly with ATOMIC WOOD, & THE PC ROGUES Trevor Howard - formerly with SMOOTH SAILIN', BUNCH OF DUDES, & BAND PRACTICE Brian Hall - formerly with THE BRADY's, THE DOLLY LLAMAS, & THE TRICYCLE THIEVES. Also with SoJo MoJo Kevin Decker - Formerly with KID FLASH, RUNN21. Also with SoJo MoJo Brad Burgess - also with HARVEST MOON, and formerly with AUDIO DETOUR
