Anything... Bands we like, bands we've met, bands we've played with, politics, relationships, environment, science, people we've met or seen, war, peace, love, death, religion, alcohol, progression, regression, recession, depression... A lot of "sion". There's a lot of bands, these are the ones that tend to crop up from people who say "you sound like..." or are bands all 4 of us REALLY like:
Alkaline Trio
At The Drive In
Biffy Clyro
Deftones
Fall Out Boy
Foo Fighters
Greenspace (local)
Hundred Reasons
Incubus
Jimmy Eat World
My Vitriol
New Found Glory
Nirvana
Reuben
Sigur Ros
Yourcodenameis:Milo
Neye Benziyor?
We get a lot of comparisons to other bands and what we've noticed it depends on who those people's favourite bands are, when they were born and whether they think we're shit or not!
Our favourite comparisons have been to Biffy Clyro, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Placebo & My Vitriol.
Music We're Currently Listening To:
Chris: iPod on genius mainly... I was listening to Don Broco, Jimmy Eat World and New Found Glory recently though.
James: Rage against the machine, Fall out boy, Portishead
Stu: The mighty Mr Ben Folds, Postal Service and the one and only D.R.E. motherfu**er
Yohn: Reuben, N*E*R*D, Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, Mmph.
With the back story of many young bands these days, Cut Glass Accent (AKA CGA) had a turbulent birth. First forming almost 7 years ago in 2002, the band reformed in 2008 with the final line up of Chris Bradley, James Wood, Stuart Latham and ex View From Above/Hostage Rescue Team drummer Anthony “Yohn” Johnson in May 2008 after an 8 month hiatus.
Deciding to give the band a real go this time; the band finished their album “This Statement Is False” that they'd previously been working on from 2006 at Digital Garden Studios, signed up with Naz Promotions to do PR for their debut single Cherryade/Credibility and jumped in at the deep end self financing and self releasing it on their record label Scattered Records in May 2009. Since then the band has travelled the UK on several mini tours, supported their heroes Hundred Reasons, supported rising stars Random Hand, Johnny Foreigner, Don Broco, Mike TV and many others & released a single to good response from the media, most notably receiving play from Steve Lamacq & a favourable review and feature in Big Cheese Magazine.
Cut Glass Accent have toured up and down the UK playing notable venues far and wide from Swindon’s Area 51 to Glasgow’s 13th Note as well as famous venues such as York’s Stone Roses Bar, Edinburgh’s Whistlebinkies, Leicester’s The Shed as well as many gigs both as support and most recently headliner (to an almost sell out crowd) at Newcastle’s O2 Academy 2 (previously Carling Academy) amongst many others.
The band are now looking to finally release their much anticipated follow up to 2005 debut album “Fractures”, “This Statement is False” in Autumn 2009 with a tour in support of the album. For booking enquiries please e-mail management@cgaband.com.

"CUT GLASS ACCENT
CHERRYADE/CREDIBILITY
4/5
Having released 3 EPs and their debut album ‘Fractures’ since forming in 2002, these North East alt-rockers continue on with their DIY approach with this double A-side download single on their own Scattered Records. These melodic anthems show the band’s potential and prove that they have the drive and passion to make waves with their upcoming second album ‘This Statement Is False’." - Cherryade/Credibility Review June 27th 2009 - Big Cheese Magazine Review Issue 113
"Pretty big sound this from Cut Glass Accent; with vocals that sound more pop than rock but an awesome head-banging backdrop of scathing guitars and throbbin' bass, Cut Glass Accent make a somewhat cultishly commercial but powerful rockin' noise that's pretty distinctive and totally in-yer-face.
'Cherryade' is a stormin' song that blasts right out at yer; definitely the right choice as the 'A' side, 'Cherryade' demonstrates Cut Glass Accent's penchant for a sound that's familiarly unfamiliar! Cut Glass Accent don't sound like any other band even though they do tend to make a big rockin' melee of a noise that's almost, but not quite, predictable!
Cut Glass Accent manage to stay just on the sane side of manic metal; the barrage of electric noise is pretty immense but thankfully errs more towards classic rock than the newer, more satanic sub-culture. And, even with so much going on and even though they create a massive sound, Cut Glass Accent still manage to get the vocals out in front and understandable. 'B' side 'Credibility' is more of the same insanely driven monster rock but this time just a touch less commercially viable; 'Credibility' doesn't tend to flow as well as the 'A' side and the pounding guitars are one step nearer to the metal form. It's a crackin' 'support' song and gives the listener a decent insight into what Cut Glass Accent are and what they can offer.
'Cherryade' / 'Credibility' by Cut Glass Accent is a tasty single that's possibly just too 'metallic' to become a mainstream 'hit' - however, with loads of followers of heavy, heady rock music out there, Cut Glass Accent could still do pretty well with this well delivered and powerful work." - Cherryade/Credibility April 2009 - Toxic Pete Review
"I was sent a CD a few days ago by an absolutely brilliant band called Cut Glass Accent from Northumberland and I've listened to the CD and it's absolutely amazing I'll give it 10 out of 10, unfortunately I've somehow misplaced this. I'm in the process of getting the duplicate copy and I will guarantee both Cut Glass Accent and of course you the listener [Of NE1 FM in Newcastle] that I will play it as soon as I get a copy. But don't let the fact that they're not being played on this week's show sway your decision about [them], if you do see Cut Glass Accent playing a gig or a copy of their EP anywhere I would highly recommend [that] you pick it up and buy it" - Barry Wilson, October 6th 2008, Alternation on NE1 FM, Newcastle Community Radio.
"A new rock band to hit the scene that have some really cracking tracks for people of all ages and in my opinion have a sound combination like The Lost Prophets meets American teen movie soundtracks which is not a bad thing.
A great band to listen to and I have been told (By many of my friends) that they have a great live performance as well.
Some of my favourite songs include Wave your banner, Cherryade and Credibility.
Another band that will go far so keep a look out for them and go and see a show as all my friends that have; came away very happy." -
Kris Black, Entertainment Reviews, August 2008
"This is a band that works together brilliantly to paint their material, each track having a different ambience, sometimes bordering on Psychedelic, other times Brit Rock and sometimes just downright heavy. An interesting and eclectic mix of material. I suspect that this band would go down a treat at University and College venues. This band is young and refreshing, but shows a maturity in their writing and performance which, I cant help but feel, will soon lead them on to bigger things. I look forward to hearing their next album project and will certainly go to watch them again." - Mark Cocking Ne-Music.co.uk (Live review Spring 2006)
"A really good effort from the lads, got some good point and not soo good points, but on the whole a sound album that , when heard by the right ears could get them the respect they deserve this type of music is not my style , nor do i hate it, its kind of an easy listening record, anyone with the tastes of radiohead, cold play, moby, should give this a definite once over . 7.5/10" - Gary Northscene.co.uk (Fractures review 2005)

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
