Charles Wallace leads the band "HeadQuarters", who have been at the forefront of the neo-psychedelic rock music movement in New York City since 2001. With a growing catalogue of CD releases (the latest "O and O", on Vibratone records) and extensive touring in the U.S., the band has played major national stages with similar bands The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Soundtrack of Our Lives, Dead Meadow, The Black Angels, and have been featured on many College and national radio stations including KROQ, and preformed live on the legenday indie station WFMU. After 3 successful compilation releases in the UK in 2007 (Northern Star records' "Psychedelica vol. Charles Wallace is a singer songwriter from New York City where he headed the popular Psych-Rock band "HeadQuarters". After a relocation to Zürich Switzerland in 2008, and a series of successful solo acoustic shows at El Lokal, Helsinki, Mata Hari and La Catrina, he decided to follow this new path. With the help of some new friends, he recorded his first full-length solo acoustic album in Zürich and name it after what local press had dubbed him, the "Amerikanischer Troubadour" ...."Der amerikanischer Troubadour: Charles Wallace richtet sich im März im La Catrina an der Langstrasse ein und macht es sich mit seiner akkustischen Gitarre und einigen Vintage Effektgeräten bequem und spielt Songs voller Zeitgeist, Politik und Glamour." -..Ron Orp....CHARLES WALLACE....Ein amerikanischer Troubadour..Was tut ein amerikanischer Rockmusiker, der seine Band verlässt und beschliesst, in Zürich heimisch zu werden? Der New Yorker Sänger und Gitarrist nahm eine neue Platte auf...“Amerikanischer Troubadour” nennt sich die CD fast schon kontinental übergreifend: Von „New Rock City“ ins beschauliche Zürich, vom Frontmann einer psychedelischen US-Rockband zum “Troubadour” des Langstrassenquartiers, wo Wallace vor zwei Jahren seine ersten Konzerte im La Catrina, im El Lokal oder im Mata Hari gab. “Ich fand es sehr befreiend, ohne Band zu spielen. Nur ich und meine Gitarre. Plötzlich war da Platz für neue Ideen.”..Mit den Demo-Liedern, die Wallace am Computer in seiner Wohnung aufgenommen hatte, reiften auch die ausgeklügelten, doch nie überladenen Arrangements. In der Folge spielte er zehn neue Songs zusammen mit befreundeten Musikern in einem kleinen Zürcher Studio ein und mischte sie schliesslich Anfang Januar in Brooklyn ab: Akkustische Gitarre, Vibraphon, Cello, Klavier, Bazuki, Mundharmonika und Kontrabass stimmen ein in ein akkustisches Kaleidoskop aus dylaneskem Politsong, Folkballade, Sixties-Pop oder üppig orchestriertem Liedermachertum. “Ich glaube, mir ist ein sehr persönliches Album mit Songs gelungen, die ehrlich und zeitlos klingen.”..Wallace lebt seit 2007 in Zürich.
