Being happy - but more specifically : My Apple Mac / My iPod / Music / Sex & Drugs & Rock 'n Roll / Celtic Football Club / the Tartan Army. Oh, yeah, and drinking - I am a Scotsman after all ;o)
'Net-wise, as well as MySpace, I'm a member of a host of other 'community' sites, such as Bebo, Hi5, WAYN and Facebook, but only really update this and my FB journal. Well, it beats watching tv...
Music
"Old skool" Metal, Rock and Indie, but as the years progress and the grey hairs multiply I'm getting more into Jazz and Easy. And after spending three months with Chumpy in SE Asia I now have more of an appreciation for the old "thump thump, bleep, bleep" styley - wonders will never cease, eh ??
Ok, specifics, then. This is just a few, mind [I have over 170Gb of mp3s] and in no particular order, apart from FNM, who are WITHOUT A DOUBT THE GREATEST EVER ROCK BAND EVER, and The Cat Empire, my Must Listen To band of the moment. Btw, did I mention that FNM are the greatest rock band ever ?? 'Cos I meant to... :
Faith No More - The Cat Empire - Metallica - Fishbone - Pixies - Guns 'n' Roses [piss off, I'm old enough to remember the vinyl import of Appetite, ok ?? It changed my world...] - Any Parliafunkadelicment Thang - The Lemonheads - Frank Zappa - Aerosmith [pre-Permanent Vacation] - Ministry / LARD / Rev Co [i.e. Big Al] - The Smiths [I'm 36, I can admit it now] - The Beatles - The Beach Boys - The Cure - The Specials - Madness - Gotan Project - Bob Marley ATW - U2 [until Rattle and Hum] - Mudhoney - Mylo - Django Reinhardt - The Strokes - The B52s - Daft Punk - Mötley Crüe - Hanoi Rocks - Groove Armada - Poison [Cock Rock, but you gotta love it] - Eurythmics - Annie Lennox - Primal Scream - Led Zeppelin - Black Sabbath - Pulp - Pink Floyd - E-Z Rollers - The Kinks - Death in Vegas - Feeder - Abba - The Bee Gees [seriously, those boys could write a tune] - Goldfrapp - Carter USM - Butthole Surfers - Frou Frou - Senseless Things - Slayer - Thievery Corporation - The Christians - The Corries - John Coltrane - Ella Fitzgerald - Frank Sinatra - Dean Martin - Vic Damone - Nina Simone - Janis Joplin - Andy Williams - The Mamas and Papas - The works of Gilbert and Sullivan - Dire Straits...
Can I stop now ??
Movies
Mostly older stuff, such as The Godfather [I and II], 12 Angry Men, Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Close Encounters, Star Wars (before Lucas "re-edited" it), Blade Runner [Director's Cut], the quote-tastic Die Hard, Akira, Ghostbusters, Some Like It Hot, The Breakfast Club, Gregory's Girl (if you haven't seen this gem, do so NOW !! :o), The Blues Brothers, Strictly Ballroom, All Of Me, and lest I forget, Rocky Horror Picture Show, So I Married An Axe Murderer and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
Television
Comedy, Sport and Current Affairs are my staple fayre - fav past series include Black Books, TV Offal and Spaced, and classics such as Yes, Minister, Blackadder, The Young Ones and Porridge.
Right now my favourite TV shows are Heroes, Boston Legal, Numb3rs, House, Trailer Park Boys, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, The Daily Show and, shamefully, Grey's Anatomy. Looking forward to finally catching up with Aussie sensation Kath and Kim when McGill eventually lends me the DVDs. I also enjoy the darker side of US drama, such as Cold Case, CSI : Vegas and Miami, Law & Order : Criminal Intent, Criminal Minds and Without a Trace.
Yes, I watch far too much TV...
Books
[Warning : Cliché Alert] Don't read as much as I used to [I did warn you], but I'd recommend Michael Marshall Smith's first three novels [Only Forward, Spares and One Of Us] to anyone. And anything by Douglas Adams, Hunter S, George Orwell, PJ O'Rourke, Christopher Brookmyre, William Boyd, Carl Hiassen, Terry Prachett [esp Good Omens, a co-work with comic writer Neil Gaiman], JRR Tolkein [The Hobbit is among the greatest books ever written], Arthur C Clarke or Guy Gavriel Kay [check out Tigana] is usually worth reading. Oh, yeah, and my good mate Mike Cobley, SF writer extraordinaire !!

About me:
Some people say that Eddie is loud, arrogant, has an opinion on everything and is far too willing to share that opinion with everyone in earshot.
His critics are less kind...
I hail from Glasgow, Scotland. I'm a happy-go-lucky sort (my Portuguese mates Manuela and Joana call me 'Curtido', and Islington Ben dubbed me 'Social Glue'), with a laugh that can loosen fillings at twenty paces. It's now over three years since I got back from my second SE Asia Tour Of Duty, and to be honest I *still* don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of my life...
Who I'd like to meet: Fun people - to chat about music, sport, meet up and have a laugh and a drink, whatever - drop me a line, at the very least I promise to respond as and when time allows :)
Glaswegians, Exiles, Tartan Army foot soldiers, fans of Celtic FC and devotees of Faith No More and The Cat Empire are absolutely guaranteed a conversation. Assuming they have something to say, that is.
Please note - I'm not in the habit of adding MySpace bands. Sorry, but I have enough problems trying to keep up a correspondence with my chums. By all means drop me a request, but please don't be insulted if I refuse. And as my Friends List now tops 200 the same now goes for new requests - anyone sending me one without first at least sending me a mail to say 'hi' will be flat refused, no matter how much you think I look cute in my kilt...
RIP Jimmy 'Jinky' Johnstone..>
The Greatest Celt ever, Jinky sadly passed away on Monday 13 March 2006 after a battle with Motor Neurone disease, aged 61. One of the greatest footballers ever to tread the turf, his courage in facing the condition which eventually robbed him of his life inspired all who knew him. We will not forget.
Haven't visited your page in a while (as I'm rarely on this thing anymore), then I got this notice about a blog so I thought I'd pop in and have a looksee.
Hope things are swell on that side of the pond. Sorry you're so angry...
