Cyminology has spread its music all over Germany, Europe, to the near and middle East, to New York and to Asia. The audience is abducted into a world between orient and occident, to the bazaars from the tales of '1001 Arabian Nights'. This occurs, at least for the members of Cyminology, right in their neighbourhood: Berlin.
It's no surprise: Cyminology is a multi-national band. Cymins family descends from Iran; Benedikt Jahnel (piano) was born in France, Ralf Schwarz (bass) comes from Germany and Ketan Bhatti (drums) is a native of India. They met in a city where the intercultural music matches the multicultural way of living. Cyminologys music combines oriental exoticism with the new music from Germanys capitol to form a unique style of Jazz. Sometimes energetic, sometimes full of far eastern melancholy, Cymin Samawatie and her musical partners paint a musical horizon for their metropolis. Therefore, Cyminology presents not only a unique musical genre, but also brings to the stage an intercultural view of life. Always presented with great virtuosity in a strictly acoustic setting, this is a flavour of vocal jazz somewhere between 'new-jazz' and the 'old-classical' style; an intense musical colour is created to support the mystical Persian Lyrics.
Bobby McFerrin invited her 2003 on stage in Braunschweig (Germany) to sing a vocal remix of Persian poems from the 11th century. This reference from the father of modern Jazz singing shows clearly how talented the german-iranian singer Cymin Samawatie is..
2009 Cyminology published their third album 'As Ney' on ECM. It succeeds in connecting the fairytale-like language of Persian poetry with first class Jazz of American and European influence. Like on their first two albums ‘perse’ and 'bemun', the fusion of modern vocal jazz and influences from poems and songs from the ancient Persia are the main topic of the music.
The band is touring constantly in countless clubs as well as big festivals.

mweiooje - open stage for free music will take place in it's fourth
edition on June the first, next Monday! After last time's success we are
heading for the next great evening of improvised music where we'll once
again try to make the border between artist and spectator vanish, at least make
it appear vaguer than usual. So if you got any musical ideas you think you
could share with us, perform at ours, come along next Monday for another great
Open Stage! (But you of course are as well welcome as a spectator, maybe it
will get you)
On Monday, 18th of May Open Stage for Free Music (mweiooje!) is going in it's third round. Make sure you are attending, it again starts at 20 o'clock, at loophole, which is in Boddinstraße 60, Neukölln. The aim will be - as always - to create good music and audio-visuals (for visual-artist Baruch Gottlieb has already announced to come) within the maximum range and variety of styles. Improvisation is the cue behind it.
Wie schön, von euch zu hören! Hoffe, die Tourneen waren eine gute Erfahrung und ich kann Euch bald mal wieder live hören. Viele Grüße auch an das trommelnde Formelwesen!
