Hi! I'm Cynthia Gould.
I'm a Toronto writer, painter, and spoken word performer.
Writing
I've appeared on television and radio, and in print in everything from WORD to zines to Reader's Digest. My first CD of spoken word and poetry is called 'Cherry Martinis and Emotional Duct Tape' (because those are the things that hold me together). In December of 2002, I joined monica s. kuebler to launch a combined book of poetry "Some Words Spoken" through Burning Effigy Press (available online at somewordsspoken.com). It's a dark, savage, and honest look into the female soul. In June 2003, I went on a seven city in eight day tour with the Perpetual Motion Roadshow through Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Brooklyn, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Chicago. In January of 2004, I headed west with the Roadshow to Seattle, San Francisco, L.A., San Jose, Ashland, Portland and Vancouver. I'm a ten time survivor of the infamous 3 Day Novel contest, and was shortlisted in 2004.
Please click on the panel above to hear four of my spoken word pieces.
I'm currently working on material for a new CD, and still rewriting that darn novel.
