Cynthia Jones, singer, songwriter, two time Prestige Award winner is Kingdom Records Lady of Soul; she is the buzz that is wowing audiences everywhere leaving a lasting infectious impression throughout the gospel and mainstream music industry.
The powerful songstress that sports a signature fro has a neo soul style of gospel music that has managed to reach souls from all walks of life, connecting outside of the church walls with audiences that normally don’t listen to gospel music, but has taken a liking to hers. Her message is clear that everybody’s GOTTA SOUL.
Since the release of GOTTA SOUL in April 2008, Cynthia has been flooded with interviews and appearances on radio, major TV networks, such as BET, TV One, The Word Network, to the pages of top Gospel Magazines and E-zines, including Gospel Today, TCP, The Belle Report and national mainstream magazine Sister 2 Sister, all of which are talking about the gospel soul singer that is putting the “U” in unique, bringing a whole new sound to gospel music.
The Raleigh, North Carolina native is the daughter of a minister, an active member of the Upper Room Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Supt. Dr. Patrick L Wooden Sr. She also serves on the Board of Directors of “Passage Home” which is an organization that provides housing for families in transition between homelessness or incarceration to self-sufficiency.
Cynthia understands the importance of learning the business as much as possible. She released three albums under her label, all of which were instrumental in creating her growing buzz. She has gained the respect in the industry as another one of gospel’s hard working women.
Cynthia has nurtured a national following from performing on some of Gospel's major tours and concerts such as the "Hero Tour" featuring Kirk Franklin, "The One Church Tour" featuring Smokie Norful, the "Night of Praise and Worship Concert" featuring Fred Hammond and Martha Munizzi and most recently 89.5 FM All White Affair in Toronto Canada, The Annual Multi Fest in West Virginia, Urban Network Summit in LA, and sharing the stage with her label mates, the certified gold album and DVD Praise and Worship Choir, Shekinah Glory Ministry for the 2008 Barbados Awesome Gospel Fest in Barbados, and the 2008 CIAA "Gospel Soulabration" concert in Charlotte, NC with John P. Kee and Cece Winans. Her music has been graciously received by the Christian community of neo soul music lovers who appreciate not having to compromise lyrically and by NABFEME (National Association of Black Female Executives in Music & Entertainment) Women Who Jam, but most of all, Cynthia’s music has manage to reach some that have turned away from God and the church but are now staring to embrace gospel music again.
Cynthia was working on her fourth CD when she was offered a deal with Kingdom Records, they were excited about Jones, which they affectionately call Lady Soul, and they didn’t waste any time preparing to release the first single, “Gotta Soul” from the “Gotta Soul” CD that was scheduled to release on April 29, 2008. Without a doubt to any surprise, the single took radio by a phenomenal storm as one of the most requested songs on the R&R Charts entering at 74 on the BDS Charts, and then climbing an unprecedented 30 spots to 44 within one week.
Success was imminent for Cynthia, because of the prophecy that was spoken to her; she knew what her calling was at a young age when she gave her life to Christ.
Music has always been in Cynthia’s heart and soul; wherever she was needed that's where she would go, either on the drums, organ or leading praise and worship at bible study. She wrote her first song in the eighth grade that was originally written as a poem for a class assignment, she then began writing and arranging music for her poetry and started singing them to her classmates, in chorus class just before the bell would ring.
Cynthia knew she had a message that had to be told, she put a group together called Cynthia Rice and Praise then she hit the road singing at anniversaries, weddings, and local churches, and community and city events, talent showcases getting exposure.
In the year of 2000, Cynthia’s hard work and the fruits of labor began to pay off with the release of her debut project “Almost Midnight”; this project caught the eye of BET’s Dr. Bobby Jones of the Bobby Jones Gospel Show, after appearing on the show, she began to open for several major gospel artists in the music industry such as Richard Smallwood, Donald Lawrence, Fred Hammond, Helen Baylor and many more. By the year of 2003, she released her sophomore project “Turn To You”, this CD displayed Cynthia as a more seasoned artist, and she was a featured act with Stellar Award Winner Tonex and then went on to signed with JAM Christian Concerts to tour with Kirk Franklin and Out of Eden on the Paramount’s Theme Park Tours.
Cynthia loves motorcycles and founded the first all female motorcycle group in Raleigh NC called the Ebony Angels, she then used her love for riding motorcycles as a tool to witness to souls, founding yet another group of female Christian motorcyclists called “The Soul Patrol motorcycle ministry.
Cynthia is a long time veteran motorcyclists. She had the respect from several bikers and motorcycle groups, The National Association for Black Bikers highly respected Cynthia as well, they booked her for their Sunday Jazz Brunch at the Annual Myrtle Beach Bike Week Event, but Cynthia saw this more than just being asked to do a concert, she saw this as an opportunity to witness and minister through her music. So even if she didn’t win every last soul that day, she knew she had at least planted a seed into the lives of some people who may never get another chance to hear about Jesus Christ.
Cynthia is on the radar alert in gospel music industry. All it takes is one time to listen to her music and becomes easy to see what makes her and her music so powerful, thought provoking, soul searching, convicting and converting to the heart, mind and soul of listeners from all walks of life.

The apostle Peter knew that hard days lay ahead for his fellow believers. So he reminded them about their security as children of God: they were chosen by Him, born into a living hope, given spiritual protection during this life, and guaranteed eternity in heaven with their Father. Peter then gave them specific ways to prepare for the coming trials. His words, divinely inspired by the Lord, can guide us as well.
His first instruction relates to our minds: What we believe has a direct impact on our response to life's problems. If we trust that God is looking out for us, then we will feel less threatened by hard circumstances. But if we decide we must rely on ourselves, then we are more likely to react poorly to situations beyond our control. A negative attitude--whether from anger, fear, worry, or jealousy--can make a hard time worse. Preparation for the future starts with developing biblical thinking.
A second lesson from Peter is to be "sober in spirit"--in other words, to maintain our balance in the midst of crises (v. 13). That requires resisting quick fixes to problems and refusing to embrace ungodly ideas or philosophies. Our enemy Satan is quick to offer suggestions designed to trip us up or turn us away from God's path. With the Spirit's help, we can learn to stand firm in a crisis and steadfastly follow the Lord.
Our culture is increasingly distancing itself from Jesus Christ and opposing His followers. Are you preparing spiritually for whatever the future holds?Much LOVE Church Boy!!!!! !
