I'm best known for my YA horror, contemporary Native youth fiction, and humorous picture books. My February 2009 release is ETERNAL (Candlewick), a YA Gothic fantasy set in the same universe as TANTALIZE (Candlewick, 2007, 2008)(Walker Australia and New Zealand, 2007, 2009)(Walker U.K., 2008)(Listening Library, 2008). The two books are set in the same universe but feature different main characters. The casts will crossover in a forthcoming novel, BLESSED. There also is TANTALIZE: KIEREN'S STORY (Candlewick), a graphic novel in the works.Note: a global storyline is still building. About me: I'm an author of YA Gothic fantasy novels, children's books, and short stories. There also is TANTALIZE: KIEREN'S STORY (Candlewick), a graphic novel in the works. TANTALIZE was featured at the National Book Festival, a Borders Original Voices choice, and a New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age 2008. BookPage says the book "will appeal to fans--both teens and adults--of 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'." ETERNAL received 5 stars from TeensReadToo, which raves "This novel is definitely a page-turner. It is filled with danger, deception, humor, love, sadness, and hope." And Notes from the Horn Book calls it a "witty, dark love story of death and redemption." Note: these are Gothic fantasy novels, (not a paranormal romance genre novels, although those are great). This is my OFFICIAL AUTHOR PAGE at MySpace. Eternal Trailer
Who I'd like to meet: Joss Whedon, Bram Stoker, readers, writers, teachers, librarians, booksellers, gothic fantasy fans, and youth literature enthusiasts of all stripes. Note: although this page is dedicated to YA lit, it may on occasion attract a younger reader. Please consider this in making your friend requests and framing post content. Please do not send fiction for me to read/review/critique. See my site, if you're looking for a book doctor or writing coach. Thanks!
I will definitely let you know if I have any questions, and I would love to keep in touch with you. I'm hoping to have the book finished by Monday. I'm going out of town for a couple of days so I'm taking your book with me. *g*
Hi! So, since you once left me a comment telling me that you could help me if I had any writing/publishing questions or needed any tips, I decided to take you up on that.
What makes a really good query letter? and also, what's the best way to deal with rejection?
No, thank you for the friendship, Cynthia! Its amazing to have you on my friends list! (i cant believe you actually commented me! i think i am hyper ventilating! Just kidding, i promise - but it is a pleasure to talk to you!)
So, i know you prob. have answered this many times, but, where did your books begin? Did you know when you were a child that 'this' was the book you were going to write? Or was it a little more complicated than that?
I love books - all kids of books. I read a book almost everyday, and I will reread a book 2 - 3 times. I really want to become a writer, but I think the fear of becomeing discovered is whats stopping me. I write fanfiction, and alot of poetry; though, I have only submitted a few fanfics on fanfiction.net.
Well, thank you again for the add, and hope to be talking soon!
Hi Cynthia!! i absolutely love Tantalize and Eternal!!! thank you for writing them and i cant wait for Bless and Tantalize:Kieren's story to come out!!! keep up the good work =)
Omg I feel like such a loser because I did not see this comment till now! Wow that's actually really great that I made your day, lol (my head is getting bigger, ;p)
Wooooooooooow I'm going to read the heck out of blessed, then! Ooo I cannot wait! I'm going to look up the graphic novel [[:
Actually I do have a few questions. First, me and my friend lorna read Eternal, and I was wondering...why did the main character (its been awhile since i've read it so i don't remember names) easily accept the change she's gone through? I mean her vampire self is TOOOOOOTALLY different than her human self. Are her or her guardian angel going to appear in Blessed? Haha, I am always happy to talk books, too, as you can see. Are you coming to Houston, Texas or Katy, Texas at anytime?
haha, i don't want to bother you too much. im so excited that you are continuing the two stories, they are so great. i can't wait to see the graphic novel and i cannot wait for 'blessed'. (: please keep up the amazing work.
i am currently reading 'eternal' but i am almost finished. i bought it yesterday and found myself reading it until morning this morning. haha. i really enjoy the idea of having werepeople other than just werewolves. (the werearmadillo made me smile) also, i wanted to know if your idea of the book was to have the vampires be that "bad guys" or just another group of people? also, i did enjoy how it was in texas. texas is one of my most favorite places in the world. my family visits plano, texas every year. (:
