When our friend Cy Rawls was diagnosed with cancer the community banded together to raise money for he and his family. People donated cash, brought food to the hospital and Kerri Cantwell created a fantastic and touching blog to keep everyone up to date. Bands played shows for no payment, some decided to get back together to help, and venues opened their doors. The outpouring of support from the community was astounding, musical or otherwise.
Chris Rossi decided to create CyTunes, an online software program where bands could sell their music to raise money for the Cy Rawls fund. Knowing this was a huge undertaking, Chris reached out for volunteers to help with public relations, graphic design and band wrangling.
From James Hepler:
CyTunes is an online music store
where you will be able to buy exclusive music from some of your favorite
local and maybe less local artists. The proceeds will go to the Tisch Brain
Tumor Center at Duke University, the folks who worked with our own Cy Rawls.
CyTunes is a functional memorial to a person whose concern for others
outweighed his concern for himself.
