Influences
My first and most important influence would be my wife; Gail. Then the list could go on forever so I stop at my very favorites. To name just a few, (and in no particular order) would be:
Bill Monroe, Kenny Smith, Norman & Nancy Blake, Tony Rice, Doc Watson, Clarence White, Orrin Star, David Grier, Bryan Sutton, Bruce White, Wayne Henderson, Adam Steffey, Wayne Benson and many years ago my first picking buddy was my Uncle Os Kessee. Uncle Os taught me to play my first song on guitar, "The Wildwood Flower". I added a picture of Os on his horse to view as the song plays. I tried to play it as close as I could remember to his style of flatpicking.
I play guitar, mandolin, autoharp, harmonica, bass, etc. Yep, another bluegrass picker and singer. Been making my "noise" for a many a moons now. I've been really fortunate to perform and befriend some great peeps. Started playing guitar around six years old. “Wildwood Flower” was the first song that I learned so I added the way I learned it from my uncle Oscar. As a teen I played rock, then moved on to country for a while but I repented of all that (kidding folks) and returned to my bluegrass roots. As the years rolled on I learned to play other instruments.
For the most part, this is the site that I use to promote my guitar, mandolin, bass, etc talents. I also have several songs on my vocalist site. The reason I am here is to network so friendship is very welcome! ......
Now, moving on to videos, my good friend Bruce White came by with his camcorder and said "sing one". So without rehearsing here's one called
"The Natural Thing To Do".
While a few neighors/friends were in my backyard backyard a picking, Gail recorded a song. The quality is not as good as the first one because it was done on camera instead of a camcorder. I will add some better clips later.
For now, here's
"Shuckin The Corn".
