Hyjak n Torcha are one of the most respected hiphop artist is Australia, combining witty lyrics with conscious concepts, their music becomes truly addictive! Having toured Aust. with big names like Gangstarr, Mobb deep, Xzibit (and many more) and have won ‘Best new film maker award’ at the Belowground Music Video Festival with their music video “NIGHT WITH CHOPPER” (produced by Scope Red) it’s no wonder that their music is ‘Idolised’ by thousands of MCs globally!

Q) So how long have you two been working together?

we have been working together on stages ,deli s and local pubs for over 10 years disturbing the peace for one common goal.

Q)How did the names "Hyjak n Torcha" come about?

we didn’t plan it like a big terrorist sounding name. I was called highjack cause of how I snatched mics at all gigs just got funky with the spelling recently last 10 years. Torcha earned his name from escaping a torture chamber back in Poland as a young kid in Poland.

Q)How would you describe your MC style?

our style can be described as a uni class that has got on an excursion to Taronga zoo and everyone including the teacher has popped an acid trip to study the zebras more specifically.

Q) In your lyrics, what is it you try to represent to the listener?

we represent the common Australian with a twist, we are un common because we choose to question all political leaders ,religions and reasons people seemed to be interested in American celebrities.

Q) Hyjak, tell us the story behind you sneaking inside a local Bondi club to show off your MC skills?

it was a club in the kross that existed over 11 years ago back when the Kross was still raw. I was a songbook that had been spitting in the bedroom for years came out ripped, this was the same battle I met torcha bonez etc.

Q)Torcha, what drives your 'conscious concepts' ?

I am driven by political events around the globe plus the local injustices and contradictions that I see.

Q)Touring around Australia, who was your favourite artist to tour with?

Touring with the obese crew has always been a blast. Puffin a sesh then watching pegs walk on stage in his Capricorn cat outfit is crazy. Watching muph have a few to many then start belly dancing on stage and plutonic lab that guys a livewire about to explode any second.

Q)How did you two accomplish the video "Night With Chopper" and how long did it take to finish?

night with chopper was filmed in Redfern in one day. then we took chopper to china town to try some peeking duck.

Q)Tell me about your latest album release…

The latest release is called unregrettable and was 70 percent produced by mules, with a few tracks by jase and a help from jetlag who’s currently locked up as a political prisoner. Free jetlag. the album is deeper and more meaningful than anything done before its crazy

Q)what was your favourite track of the album and why?

our favourite track is no regrets cause we have a laugh at how we ruined our lives.
