food--I love to eat! I like all sorts of ethnic cuisine and southern food. Shrimp and Grits may be my favorite dish. I love wine--particularly Oregon Pinot Noir, which is one of the primary reasons I'm moving back to Portland within the coming months. Also, travel, single malt scotch (18 year old Glenmorangie is my favorite), microbrewed beer, cocktails, espresso, tequila, small batch bourbon, martinis with extra olives, olives, cigars, mixed martial arts, boxing, snowboarding, skiing, reading, writing, art, foreign films, Japanese culture, chai lattes. I love all animals, dogs in particular. I've currently got two Jack Russell Terriers and have also had rottweilers, dalmatians and a lot of mutts. My goal for the next year or two is to set up my own charitable foundation for animal rescue groups. At some point, I'd also like to have my own dalmatian and/or rottweiler rescue group.

I love movies, especially foreign films. I also like old movies, indy films, strange films and if it involves mobsters, casinos, retro-Las Vegas/Los Angeles imagery or some combination of those plotlines I'm there. I like Steven Soderbergh's "Oceans Eleven" series, as well as the Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin/Rat Pack original. I love Italian films--particularly Fellini (La Dolce Vita would be on a short list of my favorite films ever) and Antonioni (L'Avventura and L'Eclisse would also be on that list). I'm also really into Japanese films both past and present(Kurosawa in particular). Jean Renoir's films kick ass. Some random films off the top of my head that I like: Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino, The Godfather Trilogy (Part 3 not so much), Pulp Fiction, Citizen Kane, Psycho and pretty much everything else by Hitchcock, LA Confidential, Casablanca, The Big Sleep, On the Waterfront, The Hustler (Jackie Gleason deserved an Oscar for that), La Règle du jeu, La Grande Illusion, The Grifters, The Kid Stays in the Picture and too many others to list.

I've read all of the classics, and my favorites are Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, TS Elliot, Hunter S. Thompson, Oscar Wilde, Ayn Rand, Robert Penn Warren, DH Lawrence and, of course, Shakespeare. If I had to name my favorites off the top of my head it would be Hemingway's "A Movable Feast" and "The Sun Also Rises", Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby", Faulkner's "Go Down Moses", HST's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and TS Elliot's poetry, particularly "Prufrock". These days I read a lot of biographies and non-fiction books, particularly tedious books on financial market dynamics.
