Domestic Wildlife is DAAU's most recent album. The album is available in stores, on the Radical Duke Labelsite.
And also on I TUNES.
Domestic Wildlife their 5th album altogether - is an obvious result of their 2005 live-tour. The sound of Domestic Wildlife actually grew on stage during a one-and-a half year tour which lead the band through different clubs and festivals in Europe such as Roskilde in Denmark, Sziget in Budapest, Hungary, Dour and Pukkelpop in Belgium, Impuls Tanz Austria and Lars Fusion in Germany just to name a few.
For this occasion musical friends Fre Madou - mainly active in jazz and improvisation (Fables Of Fungus) - and drummer, Geert..Bootsie' Budts (Traktor, Kapitein Winokio, Butsenzeller...) - were added to the line-up. So the quartet became a sextet. In the meantime Free Madou is replaced by Hannes d' Hoine, former bassplayer of Noppes and LO-AN.
This was the very first time extra musicians were involved in the whole process of rehearsal, composing, recording and production of a DAAU album.
What remains, is the unique cinematic character and musical poetry of DAAU's music. New and innovating are the danceable rock grooves and jazzy undertones that leave enough space for subtlety, tristesse and small bits of electronics that make this album a total progressive anarchistic package.
The album was a good reflection of what you could expect from their live performance. The 'Domestic' tour kicked off on April 13th 2006 in The Netherlands. Belgium, Denmark, France, the rest of Europe and Taiwan followed during 2006 and 2007. A Swedish tour in 2008 and a performance on the Skiff Festival in St Petersburg (Rus). Also a Belgian tour with the "Our Daily Bread" moviesoundtrack project took place. This year will be used to charge up the batteries, resource and compose for a new album in the classic quartet line up !!!
