Their early sound could be considered a combination of energetic rock and sinuous post rock. In six months, after having released an unofficial demo called “Kassyus Clay, We play!!!” - which was recorded and self-produced in a low-fi studio - the band decided to develop their sound adding electronic instruments and broadening their experimental side. Their following songs became more eclectic, more instrumental, more orchestrated and definitely less rock, paying attention on the harmony and the structure of the pieces. Inspired by some groups such as Stereolab, Tortoise, Cinematic Orchestra, Jagga Jazzist, and many other similar bands, Kassyus Clay sound can be described as an evocative, powerful, hypnotic melody, being like “a talking picture without pictures”. In October 2008, Kassyus Clay began working on their debut album, recorded at the analogical studio Inside Outside and successively released in December 2008. The homonymous album was followed by a winter tour which kept the band busy in several concerts, supporting some important underground bands such as Ulan Bator (France), Super Elastic Bubble Plastic and East Rodeo.
