In conclusion, Islam teaches us that loving our people is natural & there's nothing wrong with it. What's unnatural & wrong is supporting our people even when we know they're in the wrong.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace & blessings be upon him) said:
"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a White has no superiority over a Black, nor a Black has any superiority over a White - except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood."
I end this letter with the following Verse from the Qur'an. It clearly describes our situation:
"And hold firmly onto the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. And remember Allah's favor upon you - for you were once enemies to each other but He joined your hearts together so that you became brothers by His grace. And you were on the brink of the pit of hellfire, and He saved you from it. Thus does Allah make clear to you His verses so that you may be guided." [The Qur'an 3:103]
It is truly my honor to be your brother in Islam. You are in my du'a and my prayers, akhi.
By the way brother, I wanted to say a few more things. I heard this account of what really happened from an Uyghur friend of mine who is originally from Urumqi and whose family had to flee during the riots because of the mobs that were going around randomly killing. My Uyghur friend told me that the communist media in China was lying and not telling the truth. I will send you two books in the future once you come back to the West, so tell me when you do insha'Allah.
Either way, no matter what happened, we're Muslim first. If it was the Japanese government committing these crimes, I would stand up against the Japanese oppressors even though I'm Japanese. I love my country and my culture, I love being Japanese... But my religion always comes first. The Ummah is far more important to me than Japan.
I am also an American but I always speak up against my government when it commits crimes around the world. A person who is truly loyal to his country and his people will speak the truth no matter what happens because his heart goes out to the entire world and all of humanity.
In the words of Socrates:
"I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world."
I am opposed to Zionists, Crusaders and Communists but this doesn't mean I dislike all Jewish, Christian or Chinese people. I am not a racist or nationalist. I believe in the brotherhood of all humanity. For example, one of my best friends is a Jew who converted to Islam. He is an Israelite by blood and even though his people are oppressing ours in Palestine, I am aware that not all Jews or Israelis are bad. Many of them are, but there are many good ones too. He is our Muslim brother now and that's what counts most.
You may wonder why I even wrote this blog in the first place. I wanted to show the other side's perspective of what really happened. Part of it was also personal and I was quite upset. Here is the reason why: A Chinese man who I was good friends with and trusted betrayed me after the riots in Urumchi happened. I was so nice to him and we had pleasant chats in the past, but then after the riots he just turned on me and started to say the worst curse words against Islam and even blasphemied against Allah. He also said that all Muslims deserve to die. When we were friends he told me was anti-Communist, but then he suddenly had a change of heart and became a blind supporter of the Communist government. We no longer speak to each other. He showed his true hatred for Islam. I told him no matter what he would never be able to defeat us because God is with us. I then wrote this blog.
I know Taiwanese are ethnically Han and I hold them in very high regard. It's mostly only Mainlanders whom I have an issue with, but as I stated before it has nothing to do with ethnicity/nationality but only politics/religion. One of my best friends is Taiwanese and I have known him for almost 8 years now. He lives in Taipei where he works as a programmer but he was recently laid off because of the economic recession. He is a Christian but likes Japan and respects Islam. I pray Allah will open his heart to the Truth and guide him to Islam.
First of all brother, thank you for sharing your views with me regarding the situation there. I am always interested in hearing and discussing different views, as I am an open-minded person. However, I don't want to ruin our friendship and let our brotherhood get divided over these issues. So please know that I was not speaking against the Chinese people, but only the government. I should have made it clear that when I say "Communist Chinese" I am not referring to all Han people, rather I am referring to the Communist government and its supporters in general (including non-Hans). I should have made this clear in the first place to avoid any misunderstandings.
I know that more Han Chinese have been killed by the Communist government than anybody else. I have read about how traditional Chinese culture was systematically destroyed and your beautiful heritage & history erased under the horrible policy of the "4 Olds". Not only that, but over 85 million Han Chinese civilians died under Mao's rule, more deaths than both World Wars combined.
