About me:
Ive never been one to do much writing or keep a journal. However, in the begining under what might be termed as madness I've decided it's time I started.
I have two ex's and was awarded sole custody both times. My son is out on his own now. He was kind enough to have a daughter at age 20, making me a grand-father at a very young age. (I still haven't figured out how I'm going to get even over that, but I will get even). I can say she is a wonderful kid. She's very out going and well spoken.
My daughter's mother left us when she was 9 months old and it's been just me and her ever since. Now, while my son was a hand full, she on the other hand is a complete opposite. While he was tough to raise, (I don't think there was anything he didn't get into or didn't try). Other than the occational bad grade at school, my daughter is a great child that never gives me any trouble at all. Student Council, Cheerleading, Young Republicans, at 14 yrs old, she's done it all. I should note that my friends have been kind enough to tell me the hard part about raising girls is their teen years. That being said, we just take one day at a time.
A person can only spend so much time alone before madness sets in. Several years ago I decided I wanted a sailboat, I had raced sailboats back when I was in the Marines and came to love sailing. But it gets worse, I don't just want to own a sailboat, I want to "LIVE" on a sailboat "FULLTIME". After several discussions with my daughter, we have decided that we are going to save our money until she turns 18 and buy a sailboat, (sooner if we can find the right deal). She wants to tour the Caribian and South America after she turns 18, before she's off to college.
My daughter won't go camping unless she can take at least two of her friends with her and since teenage girls need their privacy, two staterooms becomes a requrement and not just a luxury. But what else did I want or need in a boat. To find out I spent many hours studying boat fourms such as:
Cruisers Fourm
Living aboard
Renegade Cruisers
Sailnet
Just to name a few.
We perfer the 1970's ventage pirate like sailboats with a forward vee berth and an aft cabin. Formosa, Hardin, Ta Chaio, Hudson to name a few builders of these boats. You just got to love those stern windows. Also it needs to have a full keel and be a cutter rigged ketch.
So, the drooling begins. In trying to figure out which boats meet my requirements, appeal to the eye and are still in my price range, I've spent a lot of time on "Yacht World" and "Boat Trader Online"
Boat Trader Online
Yacht World
Now we'll see if I can find one in my price range.
Who I'd like to meet: I would be interestd in meeting a lady who loves sailboats, wants to live on one, tour the world as much as I do and purhaps be the love of my life.
