This album grew out of songs I had written a few years back and was recording at a friend's studio in Hillsboro during 2003-2004. (Seahorse Sound/Mark Jackson)
I went on a vacation to see some friends and family, and during the trip heard a story about my buddy C. going to Costa Rica for two months on a wild bender with a very cute barmaid. So it just kind of became the concept to hang these oddly varied songs together. It's a bit of a mental vacation, too.
Matisse's definition of his art as something that people could sit and relax with appeals to me, so that's the gist.
