Sounds Like
Improbable combinations of my influences and myself ground up and reconstituted in varying proportions - usually with rocking results.
Tom Bittel (aka Noisy Dad) has been writing songs, singing, and playing guitar in rock bands since for a very very long time. His first band performed rock and roll songs of the 50's and 60's. Tom played lead guitar in a style combining elements of Chuck Berry, Carl Wilson, and the Ventures. •• In 1984, Tom joined a really cool original band called The Broken Hearts who recorded a 9-song LP and moved to NYC to make it big (or not). •• From 1992-2007, Tom was a member of "See Jane Run," who released their first CD in 1994, and a second CD titled "Weird Reality" in 2004." (seejanerungroup" on myspace) •• In 2002, Tom released his own 13-track CD titled "Dad's Noisy Basement." In 2005, he released an additional DNB CD with 4 new tunes. •• Tom's latest venture is a surfy instrumental trio called the Aquatudes (also on myspace), which makes good use of his naturally-twangy style, and has enabled him to acquire some groovy new gear including a Fender Jaguar and a tube reverb unit.
"Ticklin' The Strings" by Sweet Hollywaiians
Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
