I exist as the cynical idealist that prefers networking to politics and people to organizations. I can't bloody well stand bad vampire poetry, the "V" word, Christopher Lee press-ons, and overzealous gits who while away the hours playing "house", and I'm enough of an arrogant asshole to tell you as much upfront. But if you want to discuss the vampire as it exists in popular culture, folklore and mythology, psychology and archetypes, metaphysics and occultism, or your favorite bloodletting techniques, bang away. Interesting persons and those who actually practice a measurable form of vampirism (blood or otherwise), will be forgiven of their transgressions into the realm of the cliche and trite.
A little about me as Dae, I have been involved in the offline communities for over a decade and a half, and in the online communities for just over a decade now. Mind you, I am not a member or any group, organization, or household, nor do I have any intention of ever being so. Sacrificing one's personal path for the lowest common denominator of an ideal in favor of social structure just conceptually rubs me the wrong way. Nevertheless I've managed to get around to all the lovely little nooks and crannies of the underworld and undernet. Apparently I play well with others as long as I am not obligated to. *g*
I've stolen Sebastian the Seal in NYC, received death threats from Rev. Osirus, learned HTML with Sanguinarius, listened to Todd tormenting Maven with a Scooby Doo doll, lurked New Orleans till sunup with Th'Elf, and have both chastized and laughed with Michelle Belanger till blue in the face. I have served absinthe to Occulus, done quail shots with Don Henrie, snickered at the Court of Lazarus with Jack Dean, smoked Crudelia's last cigarettes, and crashed the most unlikely med school parties in San Francisco with Brynn and Michael. I have even ran a blood bar in NoHo with Insane Jane, been left speechless by Vicutus, gotten drunk in Seattle with Thanatos, been banned from both Bloodlines and the Vampire Church, and made to blush by Shishain. I've been the Master to Jason Crutchfield's Blaster, fussed over by Nessa, and delved production mysteries with luminary Roz. I've also gotten awsome piggy-back rides from Stephen O'Mallie (don't tell Jay), hit a pub with Alister, ran a Desi over with a maternal streak, crawled to breakfast with Zilchy, met two Madame's in a single jetset outting, and punched Khan. Quite honestly I can no longer remember how many people from the community I've met anymore, and let's just say that my haunts in Los Angeles are just plain unmentionable and in some cases, incriminating.
Regretably one of my alter-egos has gotten a bit too high profile and shoved "Dae" far further behind the scenes that I am accustomed to...but walking the fine line as I do, I suppose it's just a matter of time before I'm outed. Either way, here I am on MySpace. Just to say I'm still around, still involved, and still that unlikely, obnoxious paradox that you can't quite put your finger on, nor hold under your thumb.
