About me: ***STOP PRESS***DAFT PINK PLAYING AT THE BIG CHILL FESTIVAL***WOO HOO***FRIDAY 1ST AUGUST***WOO HOO AGAIN***
This year, in the guise of Banditos Mexicanos, Big Chill party favourites Daft Pink will be having so much fun it should be outlawed. They'll rob any sense of decorum with their filthy, dirty beats, they'll steal your inhibitions and make you jump around recklessly to their funky-ass tunes, all the while shooting from the hip and ambushing you with unexpected musical delights. Stick 'em up, and dance, Gringo, dance!
¡Ándale! ¡Ándale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba!
------
We're an all-girl sound system based in London with four resident DJs (Digger, Fancygirrl, Mavis and Nettie) and one resident VJ (V-Gem). We all play separately and together as one big mad fun mash up! We get special guests to play on the decks and pretty pictures on the screens.
We started out putting on monthly Sunday Socials at The Railway in Tulse Hill, which is a great pub with great people next to the Railway Station in, er, Tulse Hill. After making a name for ourselves with the South London Massive we got booked for the Big Chill Festival 2006. Where we rocked it.
We now rock it at the Big Chill House and various members are often to be seen putting records on and drinking booze at the Big Chill Bar. We've also been spotted playing out at Bestival, Big Chill Goa, Soundcrash at Cargo, Greenbelt, Stumblefunk, Festinho, Headphones Off, and an awful lot of other great and wonderful gigs and festivals.
We play a wide and varied range of music from disco to drum'n'bass, to house, to garage, to funk and punk. We basically play everything we love...everything that's great...and everything that's guaranteed to get the party going!
Who I'd like to meet: Fun-loving folk with a sense of adventure and who will give us records for free.
Ladiez who DJ & VJ. If you don't take yourself too seriously and love a good party, you'll be alright here. You might like punk, drum 'n' bass, breaks, bootlegs, grime, tech-house, electroclash , hip hop, soul, funk, country, chill-out, ambient, experimental, psychedelic, nonsense. If you do, Daft Pink have it all, wrapped up in a wall of pretty pictures, just for you.
Videocrash 3! with Hexstatic (live AV) vs The Nextmen (live AV) plus The Anomolies + DJ Cheeba (AV) + more tbc 8 - 3 Sat 6th June '09 £15 adv www.ticketweb.co.uk
For the third installment of the now legendary Videocrash, London's biggest and best dedicated Audio-Visual event, we have lined up a truly ground-breaking affair, with the undeniable kings Hexstatic and new challengers The Nextmen as well as some of the finest up-and coming talent in this, the coolest up-and-coming night-club experience. Having absolutley killed it at the previous 2 Videocrash nights Hexstatic was an obvious choice to invite back to Koko, and in looking for an act to match up to them The Nextmen were a clear option, with their live showcase and excellent turntable skills. To make it all that bit more special, and to fit in with the theme of the occasion, Hexstatic will be providing a visual accompaniment to The Nextmen's set! Awesome. Throw into the mix the fruits of our quest into the world of AV to find some of the hottest new talent in the field, and the result is an evening that will blow Koko's bass-bins and your minds with a kaleidescopic mix of sounds and sights.
