Heroes
All the great New York Yankees of the past and present who served as my greatest inspiration for what the competitive spirit of mankind should really be. I can't forget to mention my political hero President Ronald Reagan. Also, my high school junior AP English teacher, Scholar's Bowl coach and mentor, Janie Cassell, who inspired me to go into teaching and taught me the simple philosophy that the way to best live life is to do so one day at a time. But, more than any one else, my mother and father who raised me, and my beautiful sister, Laura, for living a wonderful life despite her autism.
About me: Hello. My name's Jonathan, and I'm from a small community just to the north of Knoxville, TN. I guess I can be defined by my love for sports and poetry, and the unyielding desire to win at whatever I do in life.
Winning is about the passion for living. It's what builds moral character. If you aren't out there to try to build yourself a life worth living, trying to advance rather than stagnate, then you are wasting the time you are awake. Winning builds a sense of self-esteem, and consequently, every situation, whether it be a football game or a stake in the stock market, should be strategized in such a way that you intend to come out on top. Defeat is not an option in my vocabulary. To be a defeatest means you have no backbone, that you're a spineless guppie. There is no substitute for going out into the world everyday with the intent to win at whatever it is that you do.

Who I'd like to meet: I think, for starters, that I would like to have gotten the chance to meet my late grandmother, Dorothy Christine Henderson, who sadly passed away from breast cancer in 1968 when Dad was only 16 years old. Also, I would like to have gotten to know my great-great aunt Blanche, who was there to help raise my father in his youth and lived with him well into early adulthood. Without these two women, I would not be half the man I am today.
As far as outside influences are concerned, there is probably no other person alive or dead I would rather meet than the late President Ronald Reagan. I have never brushed upon any other personality in all the history books I have read over the years who is as genuine a person in character, in spirit, and as a true American Patriot than "The Gipper." His dedication to his countrymen was unquestioned; his passion, undying. He entered office during the most troubling time America had experienced since the early 1940s and humbly guided us towards the greatest era of peace and prosperity our nation had ever seen through revolutionary tactics we may never experience again in our lifetime. His time in office was truly a revolution in every sense of the word, and I am forever grateful that I was at least alive long enough to see a genuine article from what Jean de Crevecouer referred to as "the American dream" live his life so gallantly, with style and with class.
