Pianist and composer Dahveed Behroozi was born in San Jose CA where he began playing both piano and violin at an early age. Throughout his teens, he studied classical piano with Hans Boepple at Santa Clara University. During this time he also developed an interest in jazz. He then moved to New York in the Fall of 1999 to attend the Manhattan School of Music where he studied jazz piano with Fred Hersch. After receiving his Bachelor of Music in Spring of 2002, Dahveed returned to CA for a series of hand operations. After recovering from the operations in early 2004, Dahveed began playing and recording again throughout the Bay Area with his own group and also as a sideman. He is currently teaching at San Jose City College and plans to return to New York in the Fall of 2007.
Hey Dahveed. One of my songs is in the finals of a remix contest. It's a remix of the new Opio (Hieroglyphics, Souls of Mischief) song. If you have 20 seconds I'd appreciate your vote. Contest page
