I just found out about Daisy and I like it!

Moving, surprisingly mature and warm.
Reviewer: Shira Epstein
Excelent choice of tracks, rich, developed voice for a young girl of her age. Good sense of musicality and genuinly natural honesty in her voice. Highly recommended for everyone.

I'm seriously impressed.
Reviewer: NY Listener
I agree with the initial reviewer: this is an excellent debut. There isn't a throw-away on the entire cd after a week of listening, which in itself is pretty amazing. Current favorites: "Dindi" and "Blackberry Winter", but all of her choices are polished keepers. I'm seriously impressed.

Incredible First CD
Reviewer: R. Michael Eckard
Every song on this CD is worth a listen. Normally I have one or two favorite tracks on any given CD, but I find myself playing every track, on Simply Jazz, over and over. I can?t wait for Daisy?s next offering. This CD is an incredible first effort!

From an early age, Scottish-American vocalist Daisy Chute has always loved singing jazz music. A quick learner, she recorded her highly acclaimed debut album, Simply Jazz, at the tender age of 15, backed by the David Patrick Trio... David Patrick-piano, Andy Sharkey- double bass, Adam Sorenson- drums. The album includes songs from composers as diverse as Jerome Kern, Jimmy McHugh to Alec Wilder. An interesting selection from the American Songbook sung by a stunning girl with a stunning voice.
Daisy has always sung many different styles of music, and with a passion for creating a beautiful sound and knowing her voice, she has been a firm believer in having a sound classical training. As one with the versatility required in the music business these days, she was discovered by Bedlam Management and Universal, and weeks later was signed to Universal Classics and Jazz, making up a quarter of the platinum selling group All Angels, singers and veterans of the Classical Crossover genre. They have released 2 albums, and reached 9 in the pop charts, 2 in the classical. Check out their myspace (see her top friends) or their official site, www.allangelsofficial.com
She has currently now been signed for 2 years, the first of which she also had to juggle A Levels and other commitments at The Purcell School of Music. Despite all this, she still managed to get 3 As, and is now planning on attending King's College London in September 08 to study - you guessed it - music.
Daisy will now be based in London from September.
"Daisy, like Barbra Streisand, has a fully developed vocal talent at a young age. This girl has the gift of communication" -Mark Murphy
"....her voice and style are full of jazz know-how as witness the assured phrasing... the late Humphrey Lyttelton Best of Jazz BBC Radio 2"
Such is her maturity of interpretation and phrasing that her age really is an irrelevance.
For those readers who have a knee-jerk reaction to anything with the word 'jazz' in the title, please don't be put off. Daisy sings with great respect for melody and lyrics alike - her clear, sweet voice places her firmly in the mainstream of the great tradition of popular music -

More about Simply Jazz
Some may wonder why Daisy should take the initiative to record her debut at such a young age, but she knew full well it would just be a snapshot in time, a representation of her youth, and that it would not be her best CD, but just the first of many more to come. This decision was made in the summer of 2004 at The Fionna Duncan Jazz Vocal Workshop in Edinburgh when jazz legend, Mark Murphy, urged her to make a cd after hearing her sing in his Masterclass.
Having spent the previous year as the first ever vocalist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland she was gaining valuable performing experience and the summer of '04 found her being highlighted in the Ladies of Jazz concert at the Edinburgh Festival of Jazz and Blues. She was delighted to then be included in the Sophisticated Ladies Jazz Cabaret hosted by Todd Gordon during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In fact it was with this backing trio (David Patrick Trio) that Daisy did this recording.
Daisy was no stranger to performing having debuted when nine years old, in Les Miserables, as the Young Cosette during its Edinburgh run. She went on to charm millions of television viewers with her rendition of "You made me love you" as the young Judy Garland in Matthew Kelly's Kids Stars in their Eyes. ..... Now Daisy sings as herself with a voice that is both immediate and unaffected, warm and bright.
"Absolutely wonderful... I'm so excited and it's not even my cd" - Todd Gordon, singer
Writing and recording new music can be PAINFUL! Recently, I added a new song to my music player called, "Always" which might be the best song I've written so far.
Surprising since it was torturous coming up with the chorus and I nearly committed suicide searching for the right notes. Then, in studio, my violinist Jan Sullins had to single-handedly create the sound of a "Hollywood style" string section all by herself. This led her to a near suicide attempt until I talked her off the ledge.
So after all this pain and torture, I'm hoping the least you can do is check out "Always," track 1 in my music player. It's from my upcoming album, "Awakening," which is available for pre-order on May 26th at www.MarcEnfroy.com.
Let me know how it sounds to your ears and if all the pain was worth it.
Hi Daisy, I missed the show you were going to be on.. that was going to be on PBS wasn't it? I wonder if it will be replayed in the US? Hope your having a good week, looking forward to the weekend!
