Sounds Like
A hopeful mix of Joe, Wayne, a lot of Getz and anything lyrical and full of genuine soul
Daisy graduated from Brunel University in 2005 with a 1st in Music and two prizes for performance and composition. Having studied with renowned saxophonists Jean Toussaint and Tim Whitehead, and been part of the jazz course at WAC (past students include Michael and Mark Mondesir, Dave Preston, Julian Joseph, Nikki Yeoh and Abram Wilson), she now plays with all manner of groups.
Her mature sound incorporates seamless lines and thoughtful solos with a warm, soulful tone.
Among others, Daisy has gigged across the country with Cai Marle-Garcia's Mr. Ears Project, including appearing at the Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival. She has also worked with Philadelphia Saxophonist, Jeff Darrohn's Saxon (who performed one of her tunes at the Bull's Head, Barnes); The London Jazz Collective; acclaimed big band Hot Orange; Frank Griffith Big Band; and Pete Cater's Big Band. Over the past year she has also been working with Don Wright on his Supersax project.
New to 2009 is a collaboration with composer and NYJO saxophonist, Rob Sell. Together they have created QuartaSax, London's Fresh and Funky saxophone quartet.
Daisy is currently touring Europe and beyond with EBONY BONES! She also appeared as the special guest saxophonist on Shaun Keaveny's BBC 6 Music Show.
"'Mr. Ears' sounds immense. Great solos, beautiful touch and wonderfully melodic...and the writing is brilliant." - Laurence Cottle
