About THE JAPONICANS

2003年結成。リズム&ブルースの香りが漂うジャマイカン・スカを基本に、カリプソ、ロック・ステディ、ファンキー・レゲエなどカリブ周辺のルーツ・ミュージックを独自にポップに解釈。男女ツイン・ヴォーカルによる歌ものをメインに演奏するスタイルは、世界的にみても希有なグループである。 2006年8月にデヴュー・アルバム「THE JAPONICANS」をリリース。タワーレコードのバイヤーによるプッシュ・アイテム「タワレコメン」に選べれるなど各地で好評を得る。 2007年8月29日セカンド・アルバム「Pray for a happy life」をリリース。
