Dakota Alcantara-Camacho, also known as DakC or KaMacho currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin where he attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This year he joins the First Wave Spoken Word and Urban Arts Kollective as both a Spoken Word Artist and Emcee.
In the past three years, he has been a three-time YouthSpeaks Seattle Poetry Grand Slam Finalist and two-time representative of Seattle at the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam. He has been blessed to share the stage with some of the world's most talented young writers. "I would not have direction in my writing without YouthSpeaks Seattle and specifically Angela Martinez-Dy. After my first slam, she came up to me asked me to stay involved and write with them. I wouldn't have stuck around otherwise"
As A Hip Hop Artist, KaMacho has excelled with equal measure. Sharing the stage with, Khingz and Gabriel Teodros of Abyssinian Creole, 1st Quarter Storm, Canary Sing, Language Arts, and the Blue Scholars. This past year he released his long awaited "I Am A Conquistador! Give Me your Land!" mixtape. A full 17 track project recorded and mixed mostly in one night. This fall he hopes to drop two projects and a full length album later this year.
When asked why he creates art he says" I feel a deep and constant urgency to reveal the stories of my soul through art, to connect to my people and simultaneously transform our truth and heal ourselves through love to find and reestablish our humanity"
He currently is looking for collaboration efforts with other artists.
