   About Dakota

The stench of overdriven, "sick of this 9-5 garbage", guitar grunge emanates deep from within the pit of Dakota's practice. The thrashy riffs are littered with splinters of busted drum sticks, broken strings, sweat and blood. We're stripping back the layers of over-production and plastic sound and carving out a sweet slice of juicy New Zealand rock music spit roasted over an intense heat since 1973. This is rock that won't lie to you. Hailing from the mean streets of Otumoetai..Aaron, Kain and his brother Jamie have spent the best part of their adolescent years jamming and keeping their fingers on the music pulse in any way shape or form. The natural progression once all the travel bugs were exorcised..was to bring all their ideas and dreams to fruition!.. Our new lead axe man Joel has solid OZ rock running through his veins(not the Jimmy Barnes type) and has skills far beyond his youth! Dakota fan base grew thick and fast in 08 when they were catapulted into the live circuit. Gigging wherever possible with other NZ acts such as Payola, Hangman, and Eqwanox to name a few..then in late 08, with an untimely departure of 2 members, Dakota were forced to regroup... Joel soon filled the empty slot and more, bringing new dynamics and sound with each new track a natural evolution from the last. . ...so with similar influences and varied abilities we set out on this journey with one goal in mind. to do the music we love..No covers, just all original material inspired by their heroes , just good old fashioned rock! "they're an exciting unit to watch, too. Great vocal sound...A band to Look out for!" "Elephant Balls! ! thats what this bunch of ragamuffins have got!" realeditorbest profile toolsrealeditorbest profile tools
