Dala Dala is giving you a 21st century afro bass reality check. Songs on heavy rotation from the township minibuses in Soweto to the dala dala minibuses in Dar es Salaam, select tunes from the danfo drivers of Lagos biggest ghetto Ajegunle or the car rapides of Dakar: street music from the hot urban music scenes of Africa. It just had to be a matter of time that an international audience got infected with the virus of the latest African club trends. Township Funk from Pretoria's DJ Mujava only is the pike of an giant iceberg. There's lots more to discover. Dala Dala gives an overview over the wealth and variety of urban sounds from the african continent mixing them up an promoting these exciting scenes to a wider audience.

Dala Dala is a soundsystem made up of Georg Milz and Thomas Nothaft. They have been DJing all over the festivalscene in Europe and Africa, opening a number of shows for UK based production team Radioclit, DJing at the Lake of Stars Festival (Malawi), the Afrodesia Clubnight (Rome), WOMEX 2007 (Sevilla), Worldbeat DJ contest (London), Melkweg (Amsterdam), Krakow, Kampnagel (Hamburg), Global Player (Cologne), Motherland + Tam Tam (Zurich), Afrikafestival (Würzburg), Belgian Afro-Latino Festival alongside urban African stars like Ugandan dancehall king Peter Miles, Afrikan Boy, Mzekezeke, Brown Dash, Eedris Abdulkareem, Mgo just to name a few.
The story began when Georg went to Africa the first time. He was astonished by the music, coming out of every street corner, not unlike what he and his friends were listening to those days. Only the language was a bit different and the rhythm more catchy. Back in Germany while keeping his eyes open for more of this type of music, he met the musicjournalist Jay Rutledge, who had just compiled the sampler "Africa Raps", focusing on rap from West Africa and was about to start his own label: outhere records. Georg joined in and got more and more connected with whats happening musicwise on a street level in Africa. On his next trip to Tanzania he went together with his friend Thomas, better known as DJ Not FX who runs the night club Crux in the city center of Munich and djs all around the place. Hanging out with the Bongo Flava stars in Dar es Salaam and driving around in the local daladala minibuses, the idea was born to start a soundsystem to represent the hottest african flavours. The first move was to put out their underground mixtape 'Daladala Soundz - ride the african vibe' (MC). With Georg working for Out Here Records and compiling many Samplers like 'African Rebel Music - roots reggae and dancehall' (2006), 'Urban Africa Club - Hiphop, dancehall and kwaito' (2007), 'Black Stars - Ghana's hiplife generation' (2008) and 'Yes we can - Song about leaving Africa' (2010) their repertoire became huge. His recent trip took Georg to South Africa to meet up with the stars of the local house scene. The results are featured on the CD 'Ayobaness - The Sound of South African House'. All CD's were released by our homebase outhere records .
