Releasepromo.com record pool REVIEWS - DJ Dale Charles AKA "Time Beings - Best Of You" & "Big Bamboo" http://www.releasepromo.com
Getting very positive feedback on my "Best of You ReMIX" including some 10's, 9's some as far away as China -
CHINA - "9" the variations in bass with the funky riffs and pads create a nice housey balance. the synth has a retro kind of feel for the melody. solid house
COSTA RICA - "10" "...I love it, nice groove, perfect "
US - "9" ...love this techy house version more so than the original. has a spring/summer feel to it, can defo see myself playing this at WMC. the break down when it phazes into the beat kicking back in is sick, then grabs your attention with the orchestral hit..."
US - "9" ...I don't typically play stuff this housey, but no one can deny that this track rocks!
"THE BEST OF YOU" CHARTING WELL - UP 4 SPOTS (!) TO "No. 5" AT WWW.RELEASEPROMO.COM ! ! ! SECOND WEEK!!!
Here are some of the reviews through releasepromo.com in Toronto, a fantastic new promotional service reaching 100's of "Name" and touring DJ's.
Oddly some have commented very well yet have confusingly rated numerically lower than their comments and visa-versa.
Nonetheless, DJ's from Malaysia, China, Canada, Turkey, Belgium, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, The UK, Miami, SF, LA, NY have all made very positive comments:
RATINGS FEEDBACK - "10" BEING AS GOOD AS IT GETS
Our first "10" !!!! "...Big Bamboo is excellent, charting, well done" - DJ in Mexico City
8 -Very good, Ready for the summertime beach party! UK, (Big Bamboo)
9 -Very Good, charting, Mexico, (Best of You)
Excellent, really like this
Good, very good, Nice (misc)
An expert balance of house and progressive, straddling both
genres nicely. Something funkier for the folks who think progressive
is "too dark"
(Big Bamboo) Another excellent house-progressive hybrid from Time
Beings. Beautiful track!
".. wasn't sure about this at first, but after a few listens I'm really into it! uplifting and funky"
...love the track, should work really well at Stereo (Montreal)
...This will work like magic on the groovier dancefloors..fun stuff!
...Love this percussion! Reminds me of Prawler - Another Disco. Nice synth stabs as well. Great package.
...the keyboard and horns go very nicely.. giving it an almost
disco sound. the guitar riff stands out though it is subtle.
...Very nice tech-prog. record. I like the funky disco sounds.
Very fun. Keeps the energy.
...Pumpy, groovy, happy but serious at the same time.
...has a nice synthline with a housey feel to it. got a good
bassline too.
...fun and funky, not sure if I'd play it often because most of my sets are full on progressive, but I have alot of fun playing this kind of music, I am feeling alot of the songs elements and will play for reaction
...Smooth track
...good housey track
...seems that the 'portersound' can be found on reversible another cool track!
... illness
...Hot Groovy cut...def wills see rotation

IN the beginning, Dale Charles always went to parties with a bag of records and in the summer of 1983 he rented a beach house, got two turntables and a 2-phono input amp, no mixer, Bose 901’s and hosted some craaazy fun New Wave / Punk / Alt Rock parties. DJ’ing and bartending for friends at the same time felt like heaven while negotiating with neighbors and police over town noise ordinances didn’t interest him one bit – especially in the middle of a mix, a vodka tonic and a madras, not to mention the deadheads showing up talking about dragons...
A trip to Montreal’s infamous “Le Club Business" in 1987 changed everything – here was a club that had 3 turntables, a 24-channel PA mixer, a drum machine, a synthesizer and two DJ’s improving - dropping beats and bass over a variety of New Wave, Disco, Euro-techno, New Order, Depeche Mode, Yazoo…anything danceable…all beat mixed together. “Incredible” he thought in his best French Oui Oui. That was it, the young Chef in-training thought. “I’m outta restaurants and in to the clubs” especially since free drinks come with the territory!
Some rather successful residencies in the late 80’s and early 90’s left him with a desire to go even further, go west, way out west, and a move to San Diego in 1991 was just the ticket for the winter-hating New Englander, who longed to surf every day and DJ every night – and besides, he needed a new board.
The madness began and never ended...
