John Fahey, Mississippi John Hurt, Mance Lipscomb, Leo Kottke, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Blake, Memphis Minnie, Skip James, Son House and Ishman Bracey but unique, especially in my choice of material (e.g. Opera Arias, Beatles Songs, Jazz Standards in addition to Blues and Rags).
I began playing in the early 1960s with the idea of becoming a folk singer, but I decided to concentrate on solo guitar after hearing John Fahey. In the 1970s, after intense study and wood-shedding, I signed with Kicking Mule Records. I recorded three solo LPs and toured Europe and the US for six years.
Eventually I settled in San Francisco and in 1983 I became part owner of a small guitar shop. I worked behind the counter there, continued to play locally, teach and produce a few concerts. In the 1990s I started Dale Miller Productions and recorded Both of Me, Fingerstyle / Slide duets of Jazz Standards. In 2001 I released Azzurro Verdi, guitar solo renditions of Opera Arias. Most recently I released Time Goes By featuring updated arrangements of some of tunes I recorded in the 1970s.
My other recordings include an EP Length CD on which I accompany singer Alison Faith Levy, and a 1994 Fantasy Records re-release of my 1975 LP Fingerpicking Rags. I'm on a couple of anthologies including a 2006 John Fahey tribute CD on Takoma Records.
It's been a while since I came back for a sneak at your page. Your rendition of In Christ there is No East and West sounds great although I detect more than one guitar. I thought you were a solo artist! I suppose it doesn't count if you multitracked yourself. I do that a lot...
By the way I only made the connection recently between the Dale Miller on the John Fahey tribute CD and the Dale Miller that is you. Took me far too long to reach that (pretty obvious) conclusion.
Ciao Dale... terrible time for me, too busy and a lot of changes comin' in my life (job)... I don't even know if you're still here in Ve! I'm very sorry 'cause I got no news for the shows, maybe I knew about your trip too late... I decided to call one of my friends tonight for updates but he told me that there's no chance until the end of Oct/Nov... too bad. a.m.
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

Dale Miller my dearest: What a wonder having you added to my circle of musical friends, listening to your superb music and also getting in touch with you. Felicitations on your art and please, accept a strong embrace from your Brazilian admirer,
Chelsea (12 years old) performs Beethoven and Chopin at a church. Different musicians got together to share each others talents. It’s normally called a shed. Chelsea thought it was comical to hear other musicians reacting to her performance. Check it out.
