The DALES JAM is a Community Jazz Orchestra, created to provide a musical home for amateur musicians - of all levels and ages - across the region who want to expand their range and play with other musicians in a convivial atmosphere.
The Dales Jam was formed in the Autumn of 2003 and has been growing ever since. Originally based at the Linton Institute in Linton, North Yorkshire, it has since moved to the Skipton Auction Mart, where it rehearses every Monday evening.
The group plays material arranged and composed by the musical director, Richard Ormrod, and other members of the ensemble. The band plays music in styles from all over the world, particularly from the Caribbean and South America, but also Klezmer, East European, South African as well as Jazz, Pop and Rock.
Forthcoming rehearsal dates are: April 20th; May 4th, 11th and 18th.
