About Slam Poetry and History
Established in 1994, The Friday Night Dallas Poetry Slam is the oldest, most recognized, and most respected poetry slam/open mic in the DFW metroplex! The Dallas Poetry Slam has produced several HBO Def Poetry Jam poets and several top placing slam teams at The National Poetry Slams!! The Dallas Poetry Slam is a weekly slam with monthly features from DFW and from throughout the nation!! Unlike most poetry slams/open mics, the Dallas Poetry Slam is not one man or one woman!!! The Dallas Poetry Slam recognizes it cannot exist without the full support of the community!!!!
