Dallin Applebaum is a singer, songwriter and keyboardist based in New York City. She currently plays and tours with Atlantic Record's recording artist Ryan Star. She also plays with Brooklyn indie rock orchestra Emanuel and The Fear and songwriter artist Meghan Wolf.
Trained as a classical pianist, Dallin grew up on Chopin, Bach, and Beethoven. At the same time, growing up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, exposure to her parents' favorite music – artists such as The Beatles, Billy Joel, Led Zeppelin, Sting, Steely Dan, The Eagles, and Sting – infused Dallin with a lifelong love for classic rock and well-crafted pop.
Dallin began writing songs at the age of thirteen. Throughout high school she performed in local venues, gaining a following and generating critical acclaim. Influenced by contemporary artists including Regina Spektor, Radiohead, Jon Brion and Silverchair, Dallin crafts pop music that strives to be something more than just a sing a long.
Dallin moved to New York in 2004 to attend NYU as a music technology major. During her time in New York she'd perform often at Rockwood Music Hall, Googies Lounge, Tribeca Rock Club, The Bitter End, Sidewalk Cafe and more. She released her first EP (King's Highway) at the Bitter End in 2007, right after she joined the Philadelphia based rock band Funky Butter. Funky Butter stayed together for another year after Dallin joined, and released their first (and last record) called "Made of You" over the summer of 2008.
Over the past year Dallin put together an EP of her new songs. The tunes were recorded at Livewire Studios in Tribeca and engineered/produced with guitarist Daniel Tirer and Adam Samuels. She co-wrote with ex-Funky Butter-er Justin Goldner for J and The Reminder of Who I'm Not. Adam then went on to mix the songs. The EP was released digitally on July 29th, 2009. To celebrate, Dallin played at Rockwood Music Hall with a band.
Currently Dallin continues to write and tour with Ryan Star. Please check back for her own solo show dates, Ryan dates, Emanuel dates and new releases!
