Damage Tones, set out with music crafted to set even the most faithless critics’ ears on fire. It’s bluesy, moody and dark. From the clever melodic guitar work that Windon Bradfield and Rewi Mclay relentlessly deliver, the arsenal of thunderous rhythm and percussion from resident drummer Phil Peters, the heavy groove laid down by bassist Phil Smith to the enigmatic, blues laden vocals of front man Rhyan Rego, you are sure to leave a show somewhat changed.
Formed in early 2007, originally under the name "The Bollocks", Damage Tones have progressed into a seamless and enduring class act, sure to please most ears and leave even the most timid of listeners tapping their feet. Drawing influence from genres such as Jazz, Blues, Heavy Metal and Funk. Damage Tones take pride in their live shows, reaching into the depths of each individual member’s vast musical prowess to create an event that is both engaging and inspiring.
With songs arranged and written to entertain and absorb; question and criticise, Damage Tones invite you to take a journey through the haunting 'Sinking Red’, to the lyrical trickery of ‘Evil’ and 'Skeletons', the floor filling ‘Reptile Prophet’ and the sucker-punch, in-your-face, bravado of crowd favourites ‘Blue Moon’, ‘Bitch’ and ‘The Devil’s Song’.
Damage Tones have played alongside varied acts such as Dessicate, Incarnium, Leopard Skin Driveway, Soldier, Farmer Pimp, EagleFox, Ethanol 58 and Sonic Altar. So far in 2009 they have played numerous gigs around Auckland and also featured at the Auckland International Cultural Festival.
Look out for the 4 Track E.P that the band is currently handing out. Recorded courtesy of Ramin an Audio Engineering Student from SAE.
