Emblazoning the stage with sultry cheesecake, brawny beefcake, high-concept slapstick and southern charm, Atlanta's legendary Dames Aflame have danced 'n teased long and long but have yet to lose their freshness!
A "tossed salad, if you will, of Atlanta's fashionistas, artisti and intelligentsia," the members of Dames Aflame bring years of showbiz experience to their fiesty blend of burlesque having performed on Good Morning America, MTV's House of Style, MTV's Brickface and Stucco, Atom Film's Bikini Bandits DVD, Dee Dee Ramone's "In a Movie" video, Turner South Network, Cartoon Network, FOX5's Good Day Atlanta and PBS. They've also toured with Tencacious D and El Vez, swung with the Cab Calloway Orchestra, opened for Dresden Dolls and have appeared in UK's The Face magazine, the Village Voice and Belgium Elle Most recently, The Dames' "Showbiz What Sizzles" show was featured on Playboy TV's "69 Sexiest Things To Do Before You Die" and the show was recommended in Spin Magazine's "101 Best Nights Out".
2006 proved a pivotal year for the Dames Aflame. They spent a week in Montreal, Canada at the Just For Laughs Theater where they performed in a Burlesque showcase directed by Zumanity’s Andrew Watson, Thierry Mugler and Cal McCrystal. The show, entitled "BBQ”, included other specially chosen performers such as Catherine D’Lish and Selene Luna from Los Angeles and Mr. Murray Hill, AmberRay and World Famous *Bob* from New York City, as well as Cirque du Soleil veterans Roc, Michele and Mooky Schmooky (from Varakai). The Dames Aflame were featured in five different acts within the show including their famous “Hot Donuts Now” number and the “Sexy Centurion” act. The Dames returned to ATL to produce their own 90-minute burlesque show entitled "Showbiz What Sizzles" which enjoyed a 26-month run in the Laughing Skull theater in Midtown. 2006 also found the Dames traveling to NYC to perform in the New York Burlesque Festival for the fourth year in a row where they debuted their show-stopping "Gone with the Whuh?" act.
When they're not busy rehearsing and performing in Showbiz What Sizzles or dancing with Kingsized in the twice-yearly Elvis Extravaganza and annual Holiday Show, the Dames Aflame are whoopin' it up with Tongo Hiti at the Atlanta Trader Vic's monthly tiki party.
Dames Aflame is available to perform as a group and in solo acts (or both) at clubs, theaters, gallery spaces, corporate parties, benefits, special events, and festivals all over this great land of ours.
I just read your last message! I don't remember what I was drinking in my photo but I know it was overpriced. It may have been a sidecar. I was with Marissa's mom in the penthouse bar of big hotel (can't remember which) overlooking the theater district area. That was the night we went to see Gypsy with Patti Lupone. As Cindy Adams says.. "Only in New York, kiddies!"
