Damian (26), originally from Manchester, spent 2years of his life, honing his skills as a musician and songwriter in Coventry at a music college called Nexus. He was soon making a name for himself in the local bars and getting to know the other talented musicians in the area.
Now being back in Manchester, he is starting all over again in a new place, meeting musicians, promoters, venues but it means so much more as it's his home town, his old haunts but new faces.
With influences in his music coming from a wide spectrum of genres, his musical journey has not been too straight forward. Starting as a lead guitarist in an Indie band whilst only 16, his ever changing taste in music led him down a very wild path musically speaking. But over the last few years, his taste has somewhat mellowed. All this has led to a very diverse and interesting combination of melodies and lyrics, all of which have been infused and blended to create the sound that Damian has and is still building.
Oldham Evening Chronicle – “Peaceful and relaxing, his music requires no effort from the listener apart from letting the sweet vocals drift over.”..."Laid-back solo artist Damian Mercer is a sublime singer/songwriter with a talent to match the likes of high profile locals Stephen Fretwell, Liam Frost and Cherry Ghost"
Lisa Tse (Asian Sounds Radio) – “He certainly has talent. I believe he is the next big thing.”
Paul Obrien (Manchester Online) – “I have a bit of a soft spot for singer/songwriters especially the acoustic kind like Badly Drawn Boy, Elliot Smith and more recently Liam Frost. There seems to be a bit of all that in his music, as well as a touch of Nick Drake with the folky/classical style of guitar. It's very pleasant on the ears.”

Don't know if you've heard about A Cabinet of Curiosity? it's quite a different sort of night where bands don't just play songs, but also put on some sort of drama presentation/theatre/happening.
Anyway, next one os this Wednesday at Tiger Lounge in Manchester...and we're appearing. Our show will be titled 'Just What You Need', loosely based on an episode from 60s cult TV show The Twighlight Zone.
Entry is by 'donation'. 4 bands taking part in total, including The Sandells, Kingfishers catch Fire, The Thin Man Project.
If you decide to come, please come up and say hi...(though nor while we're playing obviously!)
