The former member of Adoration 'N Prayze and noted solist with Voices of Unity has stepped out solo at a time when the field is both fertile and competitive.

A tremendously versatile project, Damita's tracks are anything but typical. This project 2nd solo project impacts in that it draws from some non-traditional gospel influences, and uses the ambiguity to a successful end, Damita sets out to claim new musical territory.

Her first Atlantic Records deal held back no cards in recruiting a stable of chart-busting producers. Contributing are the likes of the late Arif Mardin (who boasts a list of adult contemporary elite that includes Phil Collins, Barbara Streisand and Bette Midler), and Jim Ed Norman (whose happy clients include The Eagles, Faith Hill and Take 6). Nootime Producers (at that time) Brian Cox, Kevin Hicks & Teddy Bishop, Warner Bros Jim Ed Norman, and Damita's husband Deitrick Haddon.

There are a burst of different flavas & producers on this new project that give it a twist. This time around Damita was in control completely. She co produced & wrote this entire cd. Damita says "My brother Gerald Haddon was the savior of this project". Gerald produced the majority of the project & helped oversee & manage things. He took alot off of me says Damita, along with Gerald's wife Tammi who co wrote on a few tunes. The techno feverish style of today's pop house tunes can be heard in her remixed single "No Looking Back" produced by her husband Deitrick Haddon. "I Won't Complain" is a versatile ballad with a Robin Thick feel that could grace the CCM airways as easily as be heard on your Sunday morning gospel segment or pop and jazz formatted stations. Vocally, it is notable in that it is easily duplicated -a quality that arguably led to the success of songs like Kirk's "Why We Sing". Produced by friend David Garcia, the ballad backed primarily by guitar & consistent drum track is beautifully fragile, and Damita expresses a classic suitable vocal.

Damita gives you Aretha Franklin energy on the vocal side and the uplifting lyrics in her Motown tribute song "Pray". Written by herself, Gerald & Tammi Haddon but initially inspired by Glady's Kinight. When you find out it's your favorite, don't be surprised. We'll keep your secret.

Damita's "Torn Up", addresses the social issue of seperation & divorce, and how people walk away from their relationship with the creator God. It speaks from the perspective, if God could tell you how He feels when we abandon Him. The R&B production team of Tim (Kelly) & Bob (Robinson) packaged the mid-tempo tune aptly, as well as the cuts "Don't Leave Me Lonely" and the follow up single "Plain & Simple". If you love the innovative styles & beats of hip hop & r&b then these street gospel tracks will definitely become your favorites. Three other songs not on the cd will be released on iTunes soon. Breathe Away, You're My Everything and Your Love.

"I Will Trust", another strong ballad and praise & worship piece brings definite pop overtones. Complete with strings, electric guitar & violin solo and pulsing background vocals, this addresses love & trust for God from a real human view. Sharing unrestrained emotion Damita's voice is wonderfully raspy and bright all at the same time.

Exceptional production and a can't-be-forgotten voice couple for a trailblazing debut and single written by Damita Haddon "No Looking Back". Written & produced by Damita along with the co production of pianist Courtney "Eziekiel" Horton. In this climate hot for crossover, the most interesting thing will be to see where many of the vast array of cuts will land.

If you are unconcerned with all of that and are just looking for a fresh take on the music we all love, you'll find a healthy dose here — with a little bit of spice! This cd is a cut above the rest and darn near considered not gospel but a clean version of R&B with songs to motivate, inspire & change lives.
